help please depressed

Post by marv80 »

hie everyone am new on forum and badly in need of advice. i started my nurse training here in uk in september 2003 and was due to complete in september 2006,however in april 2006 just 6 months before i completed my course i was stopped from my university because i had accumulated a 1900,00 pound debt. so i was adviced that when i finish paying the debt then i could resume my course it was hard to accept but i took responsibilty for the debt and student debt is rife and almost impossible to prevent considering the very small bursary allowance. so i finished paying the debt in august 2007 and had a meeting with the responsible person at the university and from then on a catalogue of events occured that have left me emotionally, socially and financially broken.at the first meeting i was told i could come back and continue from were i had left my course meaning just to complete the 6 monhts, however a few days after i was then told that the sylabuss had changed so i had to go back and instead of doing the 6 monhts i was expecting to do i was then told i had to do 2 more years again,so it was hard for me to accept but all i wanted was just to complete my course.so i was given a start date for october 2007 however i then recieved another shattering letter that told me that i had been withdrawn from the course altogether by the same person who had told me that i could do 6 monhts then 2 years and now she told me i had been withdrawn from university. i had resigned from the job i was doing because i was planning to start university.i then had another meeting this time with the same person who had told me to stop and the university dean and i was then told that i could return and do 2 years the following year march 2008,which i accepted.i was then called to yet again another meeting with another university leader and the dean of the university and i was then surprised to learn that what he had told me to be not possible before was now possible as he told me that i could actually do just the 6 monhts and not 2 years, however the other leader who was present who i knew and knew me very well told me that it was best for me to just do the 2years so i took his advice, however i then emailed him the next day to tell him that i had thought iy over and because of what had happend in the past decisions always changing i told him i just wanted to take the chance and just do the 2 years but he adviced me against that and told me to just do the 2 years .so in january i had another meeting again with another leader to confirm that i was starting in march 2008.and guess what guys now i have been told that i have to start all over again and do 3 years,i just cant belive it and apparently the dean who made the decision have me back and do the 2 years has now left and the new dean is now saying i cannot do 2 years because i have to finish my course in 2005 as stated by the nursing and midwifery council, but this is not fair because they have messed me about and now i am in debt because i had made plans to finish in september 2006 before they had stopped me for my debt and then again all the times they told me to comeback and then to tell me i cant. so what do you guys think about my story,i am currently trying to get legal help but i just need to hear what you guys think about my case thank you

I'm so sorry about all you've been through. Do you have copies of any of the e-mail saying your could pick up again with just 6 months to complete? Did the dean who told you that perhaps document his/her intention to allow that in your university record?

As you can see from my entry, I'm from the US, so I have no useful guidance pertinent to your situation. I have an abundance of sympathy, and I'm always willing to be a shoulder to lean on if things continue to be tough.

One thought is to continue to go higher up the chain of command at that school until you get SOMEONE to listen to reason; sounds like you're getting more than your fair share of bureaucratic red tape.

Please share how it all turns out!
