I thought the Earl Canova pet thing was rather odd so I googled Earl Canova.
Up came Telaquapacky on Forum Garden talking about his friend from Miami, Earl Canova.
Sounds like a job for Fibonacci!

I suppose lonliness can make me want to drink. Sometimes it's relaxing when around people. I can be uptight in social situations and a drink helps me socialize. Though I'm no good on the computer if I've had too many Just remember, friends don't let friends write drunk haha

Ya know, I've said the same thing! I live alone & get sooo bored. So I end up going to the local restaurant/bar, where I know a few people. Then I end up regretting having spent the money.

I just came home from Taco Bueno. I had a enchilada platter. Not too bad. Only they do not serve beer there. I love Ninos but seldom get there. Actually they changed hands but still the same food. Huge goblets or schooners of beer. Yum.

In my youth I would drink just because I could. Now really nothing pushes me to drink at all. Actually I prefer not to, the next day is a bitch and I'm toooooooo old for the process, and my body just doesn't like it anymore. But I'm always up for a good glass of champagne..
ALOHA!!
MOTTO TO LIVE BY:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.
WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

When I was 6-7 I spent lots of time at my grandfolks house. Gramps bought 3-4 cases of Blackhawk beer every Monday to last all week. I developed a taste for beer then that is still with me.

I hardly drink at all, probably because I just don't appreciate the taste enough to warrant spending the money.
What makes someone drink?
What makes me drink is... me, any excuse will do.
I'm too compassionate to be an utter bastard.
Too self respecting to be a caring idiot.
Too much pride to give up the self respect.
And not willing to take the rap for a lack of compassion.
Where does this leave me? Nowhere. What does this leave me? Nothing. Who does this leave me? Noone.

What makes someone drink?
Seeing I have had 3 people in my life who all had a drink problem to the point of nearly killing themselves over it this thread I felt I had to come on.
One person...a woman....had a bad drink problem because of the way she was treated by society and by her own family. She made just one mistake in her life and for that she was treated like crap and turned to the bottle for comfort. It changed a lovely lady into one that didnt care about anybody and her unhappiness came through as bitterness.May she now know the happiness up there that she never knew here.
The other 2 both come from the same area where some years ago it seemed everybody was always in the pub drinking. One used to go missing for days leaving his wife wondering if he was alive or dead.He made so many promises to her that were never kept until she couldn't take anymore. The marriage is now over and although he is now sober and sees what he has done she knows he will pick up that bottle again and will always be there for him as a friend. The other person hasnt had a drink for about 25 years and was really bad so much so he had to be dried out in a clinic and had to learn how to live again. He has been through alot and yet has never gone back to the bottle.
Yes I could have turned to the bottle a few times in my life and yet didnt.......we all make our own way in life and we all have a free will so what does make a person drink indeed to the point of hurting those all around them........I say circumstances and a persons weakness.

i did have a bit of a problem a few years ago.
it didnt get to the stage were i wasnt paying my bills or neglecting my kids but life looked better for a while, through a sort of numbed haze, then my son in law caught me with a bottle of vodka and promptly tipped it down the sink.
they kept a close watch on me for some time and in the end i got over it.
for a couple of years i didnt tempt fate by going to the pub then i started playing darts again and found i could sit there all night with just a glass of coke.
i have a bottle of vodka in the fridge now and last night, cos things were getting on top of me again, i poured out a big glass of it.
it was still there when i got up this morning and ended up down the sink again and im feeling a bit proud of myself.

"What pushes you to have a drink?" is so incredibly undermining...
Everyone is not congruent with "What pushes you to have a drink?"...
Even if you'd had a hard day at work and feel like drinking alcohol still gives no credence to "What pushes you to have a drink?"...There are those who choose to drink because they wish to and those who drink because they feel as if drinking alcohol will help their problems...The problem being one instance makes someone feel as if they drink alcohol their problems will go away and the other being one drinking alcohol so as to take a break from their problems in the form of having a good time...There's a very fine line between the two...So much so that I can't think of any line that is more fine than those two variables...
I drink to have a good time, not to think I can get rid of the bad...
