Hamish and Dougal are sitting in the pub discussing Hamish's forthcoming

wedding.

"Ach, it's all going grand," says Hamish. "I've got everything organised

already: the flowers, the church, the cars, the reception, the rings, the

minister, even ma stag night."

Dougal nods approvingly.

"Heavens, I've even bought a kilt to be married in!" continues Hamish.

"A kilt?" exclaims Dougal. "That's braw, you'll look pure smart in that.

And what's the tartan?"

"Och," says Hamish, "I imagine she'll be in white.":wah::wah:;)

We have just experienced a terrific earth tremor, preceded by a tremendous deep rumble, very loud, which shook the whole house violently. fortunately nothing fell off shelves etc. but our wardrobe door was forced open, and a vent in the side of a skylight fell open. This started at about 12.55 am and the roar lasted about 3 seconds followed by the violent shaking of the house for another 4 seconds ! It is now just after 01.20 and I'm still shaking ! My hubby Chris and son Andy ran outside to check all the walls of the house for cracks etc, but it seems all is OK, at the moment, whether there will be any after-shocks or not , I have no idea ---- just heard on News 24 that a 'minor earthquake' had stretched from Darlington, through Nottingham and as far as London ! :(:(

Hi Kay, I'm still shaking, no joking and it happened about 3/4 hour ago ! Just heard the 'minor earthquake' registered 4.7 on the Richter Scale, probably the worst in England ! Spread across 6 counties. The epicentre apparently was at Hull, lincolnshire about 80 miles from us!

Chris and Andy had nodded off to sleep, and I was listening to something on my laptop with my headphones on. I heard this terrific rumble/roar and whipped my headphones off. Chris and Andy woke up when the house started shaking violently ! We are half way up a hill. The dog did not want to go outside. He looked a little nervous. Chris and Andy took powerful torches and checked all the outside walls, they seemed OK, no new cracks thank goodness !

It was felt across 6 counties apparently, from Northumberland, through the midlands and down as far as London. 4.7 on the Richter Scale ! I don't think I would like to feel anything more violent than that thank you. We looked out of our sitting room window and noticed a lot of house lights had come on all around us. Most of those people had gone to bed because the houses were in darkness before the 'quake'. It is the 'not knowing' that was un-nerving, when the roar was sounding - that was probably more frightening than the actual shaking. I'd never heard a noise like it before, and it was so loud and deep rumbling roar.

Yes we're all fine, thank you Kay, even the dog is OK now. He went in the garden a short while ago, no problems, to have his comfort break before bed time. Talking of which, I think i have recovered enough to get to sleep, so I'll say night night, or day day to you Kay, take care, and I'll catch you sometime later, after me sleep :) XXX
