Maybe I'm foolish for never wondering who made what during the Nazi regime, but did YOU know about Bayer, IBM and Siemens to mention a few?? Why is this hidden knowledge? Why is this not out in the open? Is it just so that we should forget about it and generations such as mine aren't even aware of it??
Just how much truth is there to this??

I tried clicking on the link, but it was broken.
As for companies doing business with the Nazis I'd hardly call that hidden knowledge, it's just not advertised. And as for not being out in the open I'd say it's out in the open as much as any bit of history. Like a lot of history, it's just not spoon feed to us. You have to go out and find it.
Should we hold the present incarnations of these corporations to task for actions taken by their leadership more than sixty years ago? I don't think so. Don't get me wrong, I’m as anti corporation as one can be while still believing in free market economics, also we should never forget the past and the Nazis were the greatest evil of the modern age...
But punishing companies now for dealing with the Nazis would be like a descendent of slaves holding a descendent of slave holders to account for the sins of his ancestors. Or perhaps I as a person of Irish descent I could hold the UK to account for the actions of Sir Walter Raleigh or Oliver Cromwell.
The purpose of History is to learn from our mistakes, not to swing it about like some sword of retribution.

Business has always been business. I'm sure no American companies have ever had financial dealings with regimes the US opposed, but when it comes to arms, oil, etc.. the temptation must be great.

Hi,
I worked for a British firm which was later taken over by a big German company. It soon became evident that they were proud of their involvement in the Nazi war effort. So much so that during on of their "management worker chats", we were told of how the parent company were expanding the German site and the contractors digging foundations had collapsed after digging out some odd looking tins! The German manager proudly told us " yes do you know that our zyklone gas is still good after 50 years in the ground"!

:eek:!!! Lord. That is terrible! Why would they be proud of that connection?? That's unreal. Anyway, hi JoeSoap! Nice to see you!
I must have been living under a rock somewhere because this is the first I'd heard of this type of thing and I feel partly at fault for never inquiring who made what during that time but I also wonder what I went to school for as this wasn't on the menu.

Hi,
The mangers I refer too would not have been old enough to be involved at the beginning of the war but would have been in the Hitler youth. Another frequent comment was "we never lost a guard due to a faulty respirator"
I was glad to leave the place.
Paul.
