What your region is noted for?

In talking with Nomad, I was wondering what Minnesota offers as a region. If they have a lot of Scandinavian foods and culture. Then I wondered about what Minnesota offers as a state. So Nomad, how about that? What is your state known for?

What is everyone's state or region known for, wherever you may live?

Arizona's main crops are cotton and alfalfa hay. We're known for Indians/Native Americans, copper mining and of course we have a large Mexican influence. We have great southwestern food because of this.

:-6:-6:-6 San Diego is know for its beautiful weather year round. I have traveled alot and I can say my hometown of San Diego has in my opinion the best weather on the Planet, and our Mexican Food not so bad either.

Of course we have some beautiful beaches as well...:-6

Like CARLA, I am also from Southern California. Fullerton, Orange County to be exact.

California is the most ethnically diverse state in the Union, we have the better cheese than Wisconsin (because we have happier cows), and I'm not shoveling snow on Christmas morning.

Well just off the top of my head Minnesota is known for 10,000 lakes but in actuality we have over 12,000 lakes.

We have more coastline than Hawaii, Florida and Canada combined.

Were known for fishing. Im the only one in the state that doesnt fish.

We have many Scandinavian people that reside here but there are more Germans than Swedes or Norweigans.

We have more golf courses per capita than any other state.

Were known for our cold cold winters and heavy snowfall although its been fairly light (60"?) the last few yrs but that cycles.

We can see the Northern Lights throughout the state when the conditions are right.

Were known for being nice to eachother.

We have a skyway system downtown that lets you walk from end to end without ever leaving the warmth of buildings.

We have the largest mall in the world.

We have the vast and pristine BWCA/Boundary Waters Canoe Area. There was a time when you could travel for weeks without seeing a soul.

We are also the northern most state in the US.

And we have me.

I was in a pub once, quite a big pub, that had lots of Daphne du Maurier books and pictures and things because she'd written a story about it and (not at the same time) that chap who wrote "thrillers", Alistair Maclean, had lived there, and I had a Cornish pastie.

What is your religion noted for - harmony, peace, tolerance, kindness, honesty, whatever the opposite is of hypocrisy, willingness to listen to others, humility to appreciate that our own views are only that, understanding that our understanding of things so far beyond human understanding has got to be limited, etc etc... yeah... Are they obscure? Their wackiness appeals to me. But then I'm a Tom Lehrer fan too. And can sing the Flanders and Swan Russian verse of Glorious Mud. Scary as it is, we do seem to have some common background. :sneaky:

One of my absolute favourite Goodies episodes was the one which guest starred Jon Pertwee - "Fun!!! We do not have FUN !!!!" And then there were a bunch of football matches between The Welsh chapel folk, the Church of England, etc etc.. I'm sure you know the one I mean.
