Favorite Foreign Films??
I'm defiantly a fan of Foreign Films. I have to say HORROR foreign films are the best. I probably would have to choose j-horror over all the foreign genres.
Just a few of my favorites,..
J-Horror/K-Horror
Suicide Club
Tetsuo
Ichi the Killer
A Tale of Two Sisters
Wishing Stairs..
Others
Un Chien Andalou
Week End
Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain
El Laberinto del fauno
What are a few of your favorite foreign films?
I haven't seen nearly enough foreign films, feel free to recommend some.

Most of the films coming out of hollywood in the USA are pretty good. Even though they have a lot of british actors I think you can still fairly call them foreign films
. the star trek series was pretty good but I'm a sad trekkie.
Kurosawa definitely one of my favourite japanese directors. Seen a few korean films recently, would like to see more-the cultural differences are fascinating.

Hi ashleydoom,
What's j and k horror mean? Sounds like something to try, a foreign horror film I mean. I just watched The Mist the new Stephen King movie that was given an A- rating by our local movie critics, so thought I'd pay full price and was dissappointed. Why was this movie given such a high rating. I've yet to watch a good American made horror movie of recent times. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. So maybe I'll scout the foreign films for something horrific.
Good topic. I'll have to scout my brain for the names of a few of my favorites. Of course anything directed by that Swedish guy, see, there it is, my bad memory. Gawd why can't I remember it, and I haven't even had a drink :-5

Koan had it right, Ingmar Berman, but I'll perhaps look into Bo Widerberg. Is that actually his first name?

Hi Lon,
I watched Das Boot in 1981. I'm recalling dates so could be off
.
Didn't understand it nor did I like it. Thought I'd say in case someone wanted a differing opinion.

Far better than the later re-make in my opinion - harder hitting and made with real feeling by people trying to stop the slide back into war so soon after their country had been destroyed by such.

Nobody's mentioned Sergei Bondarchuk's version of War and Peace. I remember being at an all-night performance of both halves of that in the centre of Oxford camped out with a very enthusiastic audience.
