Also, how often does a mod. have frequent FG, to be considered a member who can truly moderate? Is it someone who has to visit on a fairly regular basis or can it be someone who visits rarely?

I think it must be quite hard to be a mod, I think on the whole they do a good job, but I have seen a couple of instances where their own personal views have got in the way of making unbiased decisions.
I think that mods should be treated the same as every member here, if they are out of order then they should be pulled into line as well, either by another mod or Tombie.

Fair questions Jimbo. If you feel anyone is out of line, hit the report post button whether they are a mod or not. No, the mods do not always agree. I think member input is extremely important. If members feel that a mod is having a go at a member, they should report it and question it.

Define 'using his/her power' please.
Are there specific examples? If there are, I would think it would be helpful to the rest of us to know specifically what the accusations are.
If its just a case of a mod not liking someone else's posts or style and saying so, that is not in any way an abuse, IMO. It is simply one member voicing their own opinion.
If there are not specific examples, I think threads like this one can only cause unnecessary distrust and unease among members.

What happens if there are mods who do not agree on the final decision?
generally, it works on democracy and there may be people who don't agree. Unanimous decisions are fairly rare among humans.
How much input does Tombstone have on decisions made by mods?
Tombstone can veto anything. He doesn't exercise that right very often.

If there are not specific examples, I think threads like this one can only cause unnecessary distrust and unease among members.
Recent examples would be infracting or banning members because a mod didn't like what was said to their (the mod's) friends, and handing out infractions to spite members due to personal reasons such as a dissolved friendship...both of these would be unacceptable behavior and have occurred. Another example would be abusive remarks from mods, which have also occurred. There have been several other instances in the past but bringing them up would stir stuff, I'm afraid.

As an Admin and a mod on several other forums, Im astonished that the forum would be allowed to be used for any personal attacks on another member. We wouldnt allow that, it would be stopped straight away and sorted out fairly behind closed doors as to maintain a calm and harmonised forum.
Anyone can be reported including Admin if need be, moderators are exactly that, there to moderate a forum not to pass judgement,or use the postion to their advantage, same as a member.
I have been horrified at some of the comments I have read about members in the mod staff rooms and have always said so...No need for rudeness.
Ive just dealt with an extremely difficult situation between 2 women members over an arcade games tournament where one felt the other was cheating. Their were no dummies spat out, no blood on the carpets and none of the other members were aware of the spat...
Thanks for the link that shown the list of moderators, very informative and can I add should be in the rules of the forum so people know who to go to if need be.
All the forums iv'e ever been involved with, have shown their mods with a title above their avatar or show online in a different colour...

mods have two hats here; as mods and as members.
Some boards are strictly moderated some are not. FG tries not to be a strictly moderated board and, as such, mods are also allowed to express their opinions as openly as all the other members do. It is, likely, one of the reasons mods, who are volunteers, are willing to do the job. Personally, if I was not allowed to enjoy the same privileges as the other members because i was a mod I would not be a mod.
As with all lines that need to be drawn, where to draw that line is a difficult decision. As we are volunteers, we can not expect every mod to be available at a moments notice when something is happening on the forum.
There are some problems that are simple and straightforward and others that are not. The important thing is that the mods all feel they can express themselves openly and the more often we disagree the more we can be sure that we are functioning fairly. It is unfortunate that members can't always know what is being done about problems. Because of the amount of discussion that goes into resolving issues, it sometimes appears that nothing is being done when, in fact, we are deciding on the best course of action.
Members also don't know when infractions are given unless the person is banned as a result or if the person announces it.

I'd like to say that, with this current group of mods, I have not seen a single personality change since they were made mods. All of our mods continue to post in the same manner as they did before their status changed.
For a power trip to be happening, a person would demonstrate a change in their sense of personal power. I haven't noticed that.

These are all nasty things, if they have in fact occurred. But this is a vague answer, where I am looking for specifics. If someone wants to say that a specific mod did a specific act against a specific member, they need to say it outright.
You can't expect corrective action to occur on vague accusations. If it did not happen to you specifically, you are only able to judge based on information received from someone who feels wronged. That can't get you all the facts you need to reach an unbiased opinion.
And the fact that two members may not care for one another does not exempt one of those members from moderation if the other feels they have abused the TOS, IMO.

I have been a member of a forum where a couple of mods abused their position and set a person up and virtually forced him to leave.
And don't tell me this can't or doesn't happen because i know it does.
This was the question:
if a mod is blatantly being unfair to another member of FG and is abusing his/her power do you other mods have the backbone to send a pm to said not so moderate mod and say so
Can we have an answer?
I have been answering questions. Perhaps you were hoping for answers that were more provocative?
You might also note that members who are not mods often gang up to drive people from a forum. Power is a subjective thing. I don't notice any mods power tripping because they are mods. That was an issue a long time ago prior to the current moderator team.
Can't we get a straight answer to the question?

the answer is if ya see a mod/or mods behaving badly report it
