It's a tough, but heartwarming story...with a picture of John Gebhardt in Iraq
John Gebhardt's wife, Mindy, said that this little girl's entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her. She was cared for in John's hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is coming along with her healing.
He is a real Star of the war, and represents what the Western world is trying to do.
This, my friends, is worth sharing with the WORLD!
You'll never see things like this in the news.

There must be lots of examples of this sort of thing Carol, none of them are 'newsworthy' enough, mores the pity. Sorry but the media seem to think that all we want to see on TV news is fighting, bombs, things blowing up. The human side of this war - the care and compassion is, sadly, minimised.

Hi everyone...Well today we were going to have a small party for my son for his 20th birthday. he went out last night and would you believe it he came home with his girl at 5.20am......well at 10am we called for him to get out of bed as his friends were arriving at 11am.he came out looking very pale and we had a go at him for drinking too much and coming home so late when he knew he was having a party then at 3pm had to go to work. Well it turns out he was in hospital. At the club he was at him and his friend drank the girls drinks when they went to the toilet and the drinks were spiked. Daniel collapsed and an ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital and put on a drip. I was in total shock and really pissed of with his girlfriend for not ringing us. To cut a long story short he is ok now and still went to work. Makes you wonder what this sad world is coming to.
Luv to you all and take care:-4

Kay, I'm so sorry that happened. Trouble is they are their own bosses so to speak, and you can advise till you're blue in the face - whether they take advice or not is their choice - and they tell you that in no uncertain terms! It is such a worry though for any parent these days, and it doesn't seem to get any better. I'm just glad I haven't got young off-spring nowadays because it can't be easy. God knows what it will be like when they have teenage youngsters of their own - doesn't bear thinking about. The girls must have been that pissed, they probably never thought to phone you to explain what happened. Sounds like your son may have, inadvertantly, saved that girl's life - becaused she may have reacted worse to that spiked drink ! Maybe this will give him a 'wake up call'. It would be interesting to find out who actually spiked those drinks, and why! You are quite right about this sad world. It feels like we're sinking into a morass of 'Sodom and Gommorah', and there seems to be no way out of it. One can only hope and pray that our youngsters wake up and see just how things are developing, for themselves, and trust they will have the sense to change their direction of travel before it's too late. Before peer pressure completely takes over.
Trouble is that 'youngsters' say they are adult, and can make up their own minds about things, and it's nobody else's business, and don't treat them like a child, etc, etc. They believe that they are the first ones to have done - whatever. They don't see that older people, like parents, have also been along that path, have also done - whatever. They've been there, done that. There is nothing 'new' about what these youngsters are now doing. They don't hear advice, they don't listen, they know what they're doing - they say. Unfortunately most youngsters have to learn 'life' the hard way. All we can hope and pray for is that these youngsters have been instilled from an early age, with a sense of caution, respect for themselves and others, and a little common sense - and to learn from their mistakes.
I'm so relieved for you Kay that your son now seems to be OK. They just don't imagine that a parent worries like hell over them, when they're 'children' are out and about.

Good morning Rosie !
Good morning the rest of you guys - hope everybody has a good day, despite the clouds and the wind.
I think a moment's silence is called for, for all those unfortunates who have to be out and about today, either working or essential shopping. I'm lucky - I'm staying indoors with me central heating ! But by gum there was a bit of frost last night !
I'm just sitting here, tapping away at me keys and suppin a lovely mug of coffee - while me washing machine and dryer are very busy doing my work for me

Thank you Gill. I am very lucky with my son, he is a very caring thoughtful young man and for this to happen to him really scared me, but I have warned him not to drink other peoples drinks and not to leave his drink and come back and drink it. I think he has learned a very hard lesson.
Well its 3am and I have just finished feeding Chayden. We have a change of government so I am very happy

When Chris and I had been married about 6 months, he was a representative for a big company and I worked for a pharmaceutical wholesaler as a telephone order clerk (phoning chemists and typing their daily orders directly onto order sheets - we wore headsets). One day one of our reps. came in to the office with a young kitten which was black all over with a white tip to his tail. This kitten was very cute, and I'm afraid I volunteered to relieve this chap of his small orphan. The next problem was to get him home safely - at that time I drove a Vespa scooter, and I lived out in the countryside 12 miles away from my work place ! Well we managed to find a substantial box, somebody poked air holes in it, somebody else found some comfy cloth for the floor of the box, the kitten was put inside this box, and somebody else parcelled it up securely and lashed it to the small luggage rack at the back of my scooter ! We successfully arrived home and I made a bed box for this little kitten, got it some water and fed it some cat food, that I had purchased on my way back home, and settled him into his new home.
Chris was very surprised to find this addition to our family, but agreed that a cat was a much more practical animal to have than a dog, as a pet, when we were both out working full time.
That cat developed into quite a character. We called him 'Oliver', I think mainly cos he was always asking for more food ! He was an unadulterated tom, and he was obviously very proud of himself, by the way he strutted around, with his tail sticking straight up in the air ! He was an unusual 'tom' because in all the time we had him he never stayed away from home even for one night.
Oliver was always put outside at night. We had a small 'outhouse' attached to our cottage, where we put his cat basket, water and food, and we wedged the door ajar so Oliver could come in and out as he wished. He was quite happy with that arrangement, and he showed us his gratitude towards us by presenting a line of shrews and mice, all with heads pointing to our back door, presumably for our breakfast in the morning ! Either that or he was just showing off that he was a blinking good hunter!
One summer night, it was a warm night so we had the window wide open in the bedroom, and we'd been asleep for about an hour. I was abruptly woken up by something landing on the bed. Gawd, I jumped out of my skin ! Then I heard this loud purring and felt the cat walking up the bed towards the pillows. Chris woke up and asked whatever was the cat doing on the bed ! So he got up and carried Oliver downstairs, put him outside, came back up and closed the window a little bit, then came back to bed. We fell asleep, then suddenly another bump, followed by purring again, made us jump again. So Chris took him downstairs again etc, ticking him off all the way down. Came back upstairs, closed the window a little bit more - "He won't get in that small gap" says Chris. We went to sleep again - rattle rattle, bump, purr, purr. Oh no, not again ! Oliver had kept climbing up somehow onto the cottage roof, found our window, managed to squeeze through and jump onto the bed. He had never ever done that before. "Did you put any food in his bowl?" I asked Chris, "No, I thought you had !" -------Ah thought I. That cat was even brighter than we had thought, and more clever ! Chris took him downstairs again, put some food in Oliver's bowl, came back to bed and we were not disturbed again. Clever blinkin cat !!!!
:sneaky:

Hello all...hope you're well. It's a beautiful Saturday but very, very cold....puttin the fireplace on again tonight.

My previous post Kay, I was only generalising about a lot of youngsters' attitude these days. I didn't mean it to seem I was having a dig at your son. As you say it's a bad way to learn a lesson. They're always putting ads on TV over here warning people to take their drinks with them where ever they go. I hope your son managed to get his party OK Kay.

Kay, I just went back and read your post about your son. That's terrible:mad: In the States we call that behavior "Date Rape" because some fellas put that drug into a girl's drink and then drag her somewhere to rape her. I think that our young people here are a lot more careful because of this. Other people put this drug into other's drinks because they think it's funny to see someone pass out. WTF, why is that so funny:mad: I'm sorry that happened to your son.

Hello all !
Kathy, glad you are enjoying the photos - I enjoy putting them on here !:)
Kaz, you sound a bit busy, but you seem to have it all under control matey !
I'm busy doing some essential washing (they're running out of socks !), and in a moment I shall make a delicious coffee, then while my washing machine is working for me I shall no doubt have a little 'play' on here, and maybe a natter to any friends who are around. The weather is a little better than it has been, even a bit of sunshine this morning :-6

WARNING
Some of us using MSN have received a 'link' as follows:- http://www.clicktoforyou.com
It seems that it is a facility offered for you to find out which of your contacts has put a 'block' on you. On clicking this link - you are asked to enter your email address and your password. I did this and three names were given, one of which is a very good friend of mine. Warning bells started ringing. I have contacted MSN explaining what has happened and await a reply.
I feel now that I have to change my password and have got to sort out how I do this. Apparently several people have received this 'link' out of the blue. Mine was sent to me by one of my friends on MSN, she says she never sent it. She also says she received the same thing apparently sent by ME, but I have not sent it. So what is going on????? Has MSN been 'hacked' or has MSN just had a bit of a hiccup.
Whatever the reason for this - DO BE CAUTIOUS, AND FOR THE MOMENT DO NOT GIVE YOUR EMAIL AND PASSWORD DETAILS UNTIL WE FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING.
