This other picture is the view of the little harbour at Hope Cove - this is the other side of that rock formation on the left of the previous picture. When Chris and I stayed in this lovely little village, in our early married days, we became quite friendly with the daughter of Mawe (the baby product company), and she invited us into her gorgeous and tastefully modernised cottage with a huge 'picture window' . The cottage was right near this little harbour, and the view was just like this ! A home to die for !! Actually the houses seen in this picture were not there when we visited all those years ago, so I hope the village has not been spoilt by over-building.

When Volvo first brought out the 'T5' estate and saloon, I was most impressed with that car, particularly as the estates were used in the British Touring Car Championships, several years ago ! I believe it was this that also impressed the police force, because it was shortly after that Volvo's successful run in the contest, the police invested heavily in that model of Volvo ! It was like a Ferrari Tank !!

I have had this hankering to own a 'T5', but never thought I ever would, however, an opportunity presented itself a short while ago and we now are the proud owners of this gorgeous car. It is a 1995 '850' Turbo - 20 valve, and I have to 'tick it off' sometimes to keep it 'reined in' ! My son has christened it 'Jaws' - the great white shark !!! It is such a beautiful drive :driving:

I'll have you know Your Majesty, that the boot on this car is a very classy one. It may be 12 years old, but it is quality, and in excellent condition !

Now that turkey day is over and I'm busting at the seams, things can go back to normal.

Today is "Black Friday" in New Jersey. That means that the stories will be in the black financially because all the stores are full of great sales. People are going to be mad today. It's one of the worse day for driving and going to the mall. Most stores opened at 12 midnight or by 4 or 5 A.M. Wish me luck, I'm NOT going shopping but have to drive on the major roads today. I promise not to get in trouble today, will whistle and keep the little finger down as cars whiz by my back bumper:wah:

Gill, please keep up posting those beautiful pics of the UK. I love them.

Took our tiny dog (pictured below !) to the vet this afternoon, to have his 3-monthly 'cartrophen' injection (for arthritis - pity they don't seem to have these for humans !). He also had an MOT while he was there. I have never known a dog so keen on going to the vet ! Previous dogs we have had have been pirouetting on their claw tips, shivering like mad ! But Rex just can't wait to get into the vet's room and goes straight to the weighing machine and stands still waiting for the figures to be read ! Then he gets off and stands quite still while the vet checks him over, including his mouth - and that is an awfully big mouth with awfully big strong teeth. Our vet is very good, very quick with the injection - Rex seems totally unaware that he's just had a needle jabbed into his body. We told the vet that we had found a 'lump' on Rex's rib cage just behind his left elbow, but on checking, the vet said that it was most likely to be a benign fatty tissue lump which is often found in older big dogs. We 've got to keep an eye on it and check it every week, and if it appears to be increasing to report back to the vet and he'll have another look and take a needle biopsy just to make sure it is nothing more 'sinister'. The vet was very pleased with Rex and said that he was in very good condition for his eleven years - sounds like a second-hand car dunnit :wah:
