Carolly;719856 wrote: Big hello to Kinks xxxxx

I have put this on my journal but thought I would here also for those that dont read it xxxxx

And now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have

always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometime despair over my

body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And

often I

am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror (who

looks

like my mother!), but I don't

agonize over those things for long.

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my

loving

family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've

become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself. I've

become my

own friend.

I don't chide myself for eating that extra biscuit, or for not

making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I

didn't

need, but looks so good stuck on my patio lol . I am entitled to

a treat,

to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon;

before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer

until 4 AM or talk to me mates and sleep until noon?

I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60&70's,

and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ...

I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a

bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I

choose to,

despite the pitying glances from the jet set .

They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is

just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important

things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your

heart not break when you lose a loved

one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet

gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and

understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and

sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning

gray and to make it so nobody knows lol, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep

grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many

have died

before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less

about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore.

I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me

free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live

forever,

but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting

what could

have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat

dessert every

single day. (If I feel like it) so there!!!!!!;)

Hi Kaz ! Did you say, on MSN, your son was putting your new bed together for you ? I should check the bed before you get in it then Kaz !!!!!!

Reminds me of when Chris and I returned from our honeymoon, and when it was time to go to bed, we just got into our bed when suddenly 'clunk', and the bed collapsed at the middle (where it was hinged). We were unceremoniously thrown in a heap in the middle of the collapsed bed, in absolute hysterical laughter !:yh_rotfl

Apparently my second brother Michael had sneaked into our cottage while we were away and sabotaged our bed ! I did have 'words' with my mum about letting Michael have the keys :-5:wah:

:wah: Gill when me an hubs were married some of his friends had been in our hotel room, but the manager spoilt it by telling us cos he had second thoughts about letting them in and was worried about what they may have done:rolleyes: Anyway we found the confetti and other stuff under pillows etc. but half way through the night i realised there was something else, they had put split peas under the bottom sheet, i woke hubby up by trying to just brush them over to his side:D

Talking of wedding 'pranks' ------------------------------------------------------------

When a friend of my hubby's got married, we managed to find their car, hidden behind a filling station's wall, out of sight. Shaving foam was sprayed on the windows, and things tied to the back bumper so they rattled and jangled on the road. But I managed to get a 'shop-soiled' babies potty from my Dad's shop, tied a long line of strong cord to it and secured the other end to a bracket under the car, placing the potty on top of the differential (the fellas will know what that is !). The friend and his bride managed to find all the other dangling items and clean the stuff from the windows, but they missed the hidden 'potty'. Apparently it took about 60 miles for it to shake free and tumble on the road, bouncing merrily behind their car. They thought it was so funny that they didn't bother to untie it till they got to their destination !!

Kay - At the very top of this page there is a blue band with 'Forum Garden' etc written in it. Immediately under that blue band there are various selections from left to right = File - Edit - View - History - Bookmarks (or may be this one's 'favourites'), then some others. Well LEFT click on 'Bookmarks' or whatever it is called in your case, and there should be a drop-down window, at the top of this 'window' you should see 'Bookmark this page', LEFT click on that and a little 'box' will be displayed with 'Add Bookmark' at the top, LEFT click OK and hey presto! Then when you want to find the item you have 'bookmarked' you just click on 'Bookmark' under the blue band at the top of your 'Home' page when you first switch on your PC then click on the item you want and it goes straight there. You can also 'Bookmark' the Arcade which is listed as (oddly) - 'Forum Garden - News, Discussions, Debates,....' You go to the Arcade how you have been doing up till now and under the blue band at the top of that page follow the procedure as described for 'Friends of Carol' , then you will have the Arcade in your 'Bookmarks' (or 'Favourites'). This process can be repeated for any item you want to have instant easy access to. I have got about a dozen 'Bookmarks' including the two I've mentioned here, plus 'You tube', 'Photobucket', etc. It don't arf save messin abart Mrs ! I hope this has helped you !

If you can - print this off so you have an easy reference. :D ;) :-4
