Forum Garden Cookbook???

Post by RedGlitter »

These food threads we have gave me an idea.

You've seen those spiral bound cookbooks put together by the junior league or charities to raise money? Everyone submits a personal recipe? I haven't worked out all the logistics yet but I was thinking that could be a cool thing for us to do.

Would anyone be interested in this?

Very cool Idea, my dad put a cook-book together from his Mom's side of the family one year and handed them out at our annual family re-union, it was a big success, and some of the BEST recipes....yummmm....We German's like OUR food!!

I would be happy to explain how you take two graham crackers and spread icing in between them and make a "home-made cookie" :D:D

j/k....I'll submit something a little more complicated...beware, I'm one of those "a dash and a pinch of" type cooks!!:wah:

I'm not sure, Peg. At first I thought maybe we could use the money to host the next big FG party but that only works if every single person could go and with us being worldwide, many would be left out. :(

There are as many charities as there are FG Members and I think voting on one or two would end up a nightmare, myself. But I may be wrong....

Maybe we should just charge each member what it costs directly to print the book and skip making a profit?

How could we handle that? I'm not the best at these things so all ideas are welcome!!

What do you all think??

I wish I could cook like that! I am never sure how much to use so I go right by the book and then after I do what the recipe says, I tweak it to fit me. :D

i like it I say yes lets do it.

and I say we put the funds together for a couple causes we obviously see supported here

pet rescue or breast cancer, or a kids cause ie kids help phone??

anyone know of some cause worldwide that we could subscribe to???

who will do what to build this, it's pretty simple to do submit recipes electronically, and then put the pages together. The cost comes in the copies needed. How do we collect for that? Or who pays that out and how do they recoup this cost unless someone donates paper, printer ink etc,... unless we all pitch in and all donate paper and printer ink....

Split the recipes up among those who wish to volunteer, print them off then send them to one person to have them bound.

I love Kathy Ellen's picture idea!

Minks has this all figured out! :D But I was thinking....could we just each pay for our copy of the book and could we use a printing service instead of printing all the books ourselves?

I know there are special companies who do just this sort of thing for charity and reunion cookbooks so I will see if I can find one.

Also, since it has to do with Forum Garden, do we need any special permission for this?

I love the idea. But I collect cookbooks! :D

Red there are companies that do cookbook printing. If you don't find one, I'll go look in the back of my cookbooks for some names. I have several that were sold as fund raisers.

ABSOLUTELY....

Proceeds could go to the families who have had their breadwinner killed in war. America and England. Just a suggestion.

I would be more than happy to give my time to the compilation and distribution in the US.

I am not a chef, nor a really good cook, but I like the idea. How to get it into some sort of orgnization is another story. Will keep checking in to see how it is doing though. Good idea.
