Totally uncalled for and just down right nasty. People like you should learn that it does you far more damage to say something like that than it does to the person it was directed to. Be a man, or a woman, and not some ignorant, hateful, and rabid waste of bandwidth.

I do know that we all get heated up over things that make us angry, and we can't express that anger to others because they don't listen to what the other person is saying. As Red says, we go round in circles. That is so true.

I honestly wish that we could all just try to move on and somehow forgive or just put aside our anger for the time being. It's good to let old wounds heal. I've deleted my account twice...once because I loved it so much here I was not getting any work done. The second time because I was upset over some nonsense. I was wrong to do that because I just missed everyone so much....I just had to return.

I miss members that have left or who are not posting as much. I miss Clancy's Scottish stories and Diuretic's fabulous journals. I miss Magenta. I miss many members who don't post much because they're not happy with the direction the forum is going. Remember that old wounds run deep, and all you get is anger and an ulcer.

Sorry for being a pollyanna, but why can't we just try to start anew and let old wounds heal for a bit, and just post. Isn't that the adult thing to do? Shouldn't we give it a new try? What's it going to hurt? Can we just put our enemies on ignore and enjoy the rest of the posters?

And, if we're not happy with certain threads, why not make yours spectacular and show us what you've got for interesting discussions..............

SHOW US YOUR STUFF.....GO AHEAD.....NOW....:-4 Now I said:-4

Clancy, let's face it, your needle's stuck. Jog the deck, change the record, forget the invective, leave the dead to bury the dead. It's a forum, it has threads which are interesting to post in without constant back-references to imagined grievance. Nobody chases either of you around and half the time you get your facts backwards anyway. This is the second perpetual grudge you've indulged yourself in and it's no prettier a sight this time than it was last. Grow up and let it go.

It always amazes me how one little post can set this whole place off. :-2

Red has some interesting posts. Most I read and follow up on, some I don't, but, that's just me. Her posts don't bother me. No one's does. If I don't like them, I move on. Simple as that.

And yet, some people feel as if they have to remark on the one post they don't like. Why talk about it at all? Move on to something you do like. Now, Cinamin, I'm not picking on you, I just don't understand why it got under your skin is such a way.

There are a lot of threads I don't go into because of the 'debates', and I do mean debates, not arguments. Some are interesting and some are Latin to me, so I just don't read them or comment on them. Some are out of my league :D. And I'm not too proud to admit it.

The silly threads like, 'what color are your favorite shoes?' don't interest me so I don't comment on them. But they can be fun to read, some people have some funky belonging here:wah:! Of course, you haven't seen my house :p

It's been said to death, but, move away from those threads that annoy you and find something else to do. You don't have to post a word. I'm not concerned with my post count, I just enjoy the company whether they know I'm here or not.

Just my two cents worth

Clancy;716417 wrote: My first post on this thread was done to take the sting out of what happened. I used humour to do it. No one seemed to mind it, not even the two women having a tiff' ....so that gets conveniently overlooked ...............

I knew the pile-on would happen. It's the same when, Spot and I are on the same thread....some see the humour, some don't , some understand it, and some don't, yet the thread hits escalate rapidly because everyone looks on. The difference being, it's usually down to him and I.

Re: the OJ comment....it's instead of using a phrase like, "Yeah, and pigs will fly"? or, the (U.S.) equivalent of , "whatever" ? You used one yourself., "smell the coffee"?

I'm not here to perform posts of, "incredible enlighteness" If I could manage that, I'd be a, Rolex, Armani wearing, Preacher earning huge amounts of cash for doing it.

The pleasure I did get from being a regular FG poster, was the many nights I stayed up very late because the forum had a surfeit of quick witted people who raised the bar, with humour, and sharp witticisms that were fun to read, but, more fun to join in with, and, many friends were made through that alone. Some of those friends are still here, but, don't post much at all now....but, I also regularly look at older threads in here, as is my wont

My comments regarding posts are my own personal opinion, some in here share that opinion, some don't, just as my being cited by, koan as being an illiterate, some may take that view, others won't. The difference in that one is, If I retort, I'll be handed another infraction...but she escapes the net, due to her status.....others may think that is fare, others won't.

Again (my own opinion) I think less is more when it comes to posting. Some of my past yarns worked out well, and some hit the deck, and didn't move....what I'm trying to point out is, I could have flood posted with any old rag tag gleaned from the web, I just fail to see the point in doing it simply to keep a profile up. I enjoyed being a regular poster more then, because others who I post replied to were doing the same. Half the stuff I dreamed up, or found didn't make it onto the boards. In a way it was like a competition, but it was benign....if one of the others came up with the goods, I'd happily join in, and, try and add to theirs......

.

.

.

One last thing, and this isn't addressed to you. I could post a hello to someone in here, and as sure as fate, I'll cop for, "Clancy did you write this" this has been going on for so long, I've lost count of the times I've had to read it...... lost count of the times I've ignored it.....and I've never once reported it. It's became the well worn, down to the nub, phrase I get....and usually when they're stuck for a retort, or, an answer (usually both) no one else in this forum has to contend with this, and it's done to insult someone who's no longer here, as well as myself. It's like being told the same crap joke three times a day, seven days a week.

Many turned a blind eye to it, and some in here thankfully can tell, the difference between Scot/Brit speak, and non. ........to those that can, and have mentioned it, recently, Cheers. And thanks who offered their good wishes to our new arrival, Sam. A huge thanks to those I had many fun nights with, past & present

I'm ready for the off now.

All the best. :)

Ahhhh Clancy,

I'm so sorry to see you leave the Forum Garden....you've broken my heart now for sure....but I guess that you've takin the high road, and I'm takin the low road and I'll be in Scotland before ye...and we'll NEVER meet again on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Lock Lomond.

Thanks for all the memories of Scotland and all the lovely pics you've sent to me of Glasgow. I will always treasure them. I've shown them to all my family, and we now have such fond memories of the lovely town that my Dad spent so many years working in during the "hard times."

Good luck and lots of happiness to you and family. I will miss you:-4

But I did used to drink them, heck, I didn't know they still made them!

Did you used to put peanuts in your Cokes as well?

Remember Tab? The first diet cola? It had bumpy sides on the bottle

Try it, you'll like it!

No, you eat the peanuts. It's something about a little salt with your sweet that does the trick. You have to drink a little out of the bottle first or it will overflow. Then pour in the nuts slowly cuz it'll fizz. Every now and then one will flow into your mouth, but most will remain in the bottom.

I remember when I was little sitting at the Firestation/Police dept and they would play Coca Cola mile. They had a large map of the US on the wall. Everyone would get a coke and then bet on who had the bottle from the fartherest place. Are you old enough to remember that they used to stamp the bottling city on the bottom of the bottle?

If not, don't tell me, it'll make me feel old. :-1

You eat the peanuts. It is basically the sweet mixed with salty thing. It used to be a lot better when they put tons of salt in the peanuts.

RC and Moon Pie, thats all you need to go fishing; if you have that you don't even need a fishing pole.

Haha! I'm getting an education here! And I'm going to try the peanuts!

911, I never paid attention to the bottom of the bottle to know about that stamp so don't feel old! I am old enough however to remember returnable bottles and those cool longneck bottles of cola. The big ones! And real bottlecaps! And here's a blast from the past: do you remember those coke machines where you put money in, open up the door and grab the bottle, pulling it straight out? They were always packed in there so tightly and sometimes you'd have to brace your foot on the machine to pull out the bottle! :wah:

So what other cool southern things can you and KB tell us about??? :)

Ah, yes, bottle caps!

We used to step on them with our shoes and make taps shoes and dance around on cement.

Or having a bottle opener on the side of the kitchen counter to open bottles with, if you were well off you had a cap catcher beneath it otherwise you had to catch it with your hand. We had to catch it with our hand. . . :(

We also had an ice crusher attached to the wall. It was a gruesome thing! It would take off a finger if you were stupid enough to stick it in there. You drop the ice cube in it and close the lid, turn the handle and it would crush the ice and drop it in a plastic holder. When that was full you unscrewed it and dumped it in a glass. Yummy! Just the right size for chewing.

My grandparents used cane as a hedge around their yard. Whenever we needed a new pole my grandfather would go out and hack one down, tie a line with a bobber on it, put a hook on it and off we'd go fishing! :guitarist

Yeah, I remember those machines! Nearly everyone carried a 'church key' on their key chain to open bottles with. Or you learned how to hold it against a desk and knock the cap off.

There was a certain finesse to that or you'd hurt your hand! :wah:

That ice crusher sounds cool. I don't think I've ever seen one. I do remember the bottle cap remover things though. We have a church key in our kitchen drawer. I wish they still made glass bottles. There was nothing like an ice cold Coke or RC out of a frosty glass bottle!! :-4

You have brought back a few memories for me.

I use to put bottle caps on my shoes too.

We had a bottle opener on the side of the counter. Mom put a trash can under it. i don't think it had a catcher.

Both sets of my grandparent had ice crushers. I always had a cup of crushed ice in my hand when i was there. I would love to have one now,but i can't find them. Even at antique shops.:(

My mom use to tell me about putting peanuts in her RC when she was on her lunch break at Jr.high. And a bag of fritos. That was her lunch everyday. I think the guy at the soda shop put a few squrits of cherry flavor in her RC too.

I have tried it, it's pretty good!:D

I'm glad. Sometimes, the simpliest things are the best. I have an electric ice crusher but it's not the same and it's too much trouble. Every ice maker I have ever had in my freezer only lasted about a year. I want one with water and crushed ice in the door but I'm afraid it'll go belly up after a year or so.

Does anyone else put salt on your watermelon?

I remember sitting on the back porch eating sugarcane. You would chew it and suck on the fibers but never swallowed it. :-6

This is almost exactly what mine used to look like.

Hmmmm. . . might just check into that, got the perfect place to put it. But I need it in light green
