I can't get this song out of my head.
It's pretty funny... unless you suffer the same problem as Amy Winehouse (aside from her bad eyeliner)

Hey, I like her eyeliner!
It's a catchy song I think. She's definitely different. I'll have to look into her. I never paid attention before.

Wonder if we can get Britney to do a cover version!:D
I love it. An Amy thread!
I could spend months in here.
At least until someone comes along preaching not to make fun of junkies.
She's a star. A true star.
A German paper gave a concert revue of the Amy Winehouse show in Zurich last night, although it so sounds more like a eulogy. Amy apparently came on stage, drank gin and tonics and wine, cried, scratched incessantly at her skin, sat down, cried some more, then ran off stage. All in all, it was a entertainment extravaganza that left a jam packed auditorium squealing with delight and begging for more. Maybe next time she can just fall down and start sleeping right there on stage, snoring and knocking over her bottle of gin. Then for the encore they could come put a sparkler in her hand or something

I watched her on Never Mind The Buzzcocks (via youtube) and got caught up watching hours of the show. They're insane!

AMY WINEHOUSE IS THE BIG WINNER
Amy Winehouse was named best UK female singer yesterday at the Music of Black Origin awards in London, a show that apparently picks it's winners by drawing names out of a hat. This bitch doesn't even do anything. She just shuffles from side to side and says "humumba rooooo roo roo" into a microphone. She must have gotten everyone there some kick ass weed, because that's the only possible explanation for this.
Don't get me wrong.
I love her. She's just so much fun to watch.

Nice video, JD
What really confuses me is when you get a performer singing a song with a beat that's oddly slow like the music is on valium and then pan across a crowd that is hopping and jiggling around as if they were listening to it at twice the speed.

Thanks, Jimbo, for the "Valerie" clip. From there I was able to navigate to other versions of the song.
Quite frankly I was sick of "Rehab" and "I'm No Good" weeks ago. One or the other is playing everywhere. "Valerie" is a new one to me, and Amy Winehouse really shines with it. I'm a sucker for retro anyway, but she's very talented. A pity that this sort of talent seems to come packaged with a desire for self-destruction. It's a cliche.

I preferred a version of her singing Valerie live on some kind of show... sitting in an armchair.
If she got her live act together she could drum up some Janis Joplin appeal. Unfortunately she's likely gathering a fan base who are waiting for the climax when she dies.

Kitch, Mags, is the perfect word.

London police need your help today to identify a mystery woman who stole a copy of New Musical Express magazine. Sources say:Astonished onlookers witnessed the troubled singer whip a magazine off a shop shelf in Camden, North London, and leave, apparently without paying. After paying for a few items, the Back to Black star furtively glanced over her shoulder before grabbing a copy of the New Musical Express from the shelf and leaving.
Man, if only there was something distinctive about the crooks appearance. Anything at all. She just blends right in. This chameleon could be right beside you right now and you'd never know it. For now, sources inside the police department are calling it "the perfect crime".

Such is the cult of personality and the demands of schadenfreude; we would prefer our celebrities drug-addled, arrested, or dead rather than boring.
Of course by "we" I mean "y'all".

Courtney sold out that's what. I know that was rhetorical but I had to answer.
So I'm getting the idea Winehouse is someone you either love or hate but no in between. A woman after my own heart apparently.

So many of our icons are like that though. And they don't become that way after, they're like that from the start... so you find her disgusting but other members of the public have said "yes. we want that. die for us!"
Rehab?
I've known regular people that act like that too. They get attention so they continue. If it wasn't her it would be someone else.

I believe people who care about her have mentioned the problem to her.

It's not Amy that's disgusting.
It's about the train wreck.

Amy Winehouse and her husband Blake got into a violent altercation early Thursday morning that left both bloodied, bruised and cut. The Daily Mail says: The 23-year-old singer, who has spent most of the summer in and out of rehab for crack and heroin addiction, was seen with bandages covering her arm, blood-spattered shoes and a gashed knee.
Before the big fight, the singer had made a solo trip out of the hotel at 11pm, walking a few yards down the road to meet and hug a girl in her 20s before returning alone.
An eyewitness said it appeared the girl handed over some kind of small package to Miss Winehouse as they hugged.
The singer returned to her hotel room and within hours other guests complained of raised voices, clattering furniture and screaming.
Shortly afterwards, the concierge was called.
Miss Winehouse, who has a history of self-harming, had asked for medical assistance to patch up cuts on her arm.
At around 2.30am, said guests, the fight sounded like it had restarted - then Miss Winehouse was seen sprinting down the corridor to the lift, pursued by her badly bleeding husband.
One guest who got into the lift to reception at the same time said they started shouting at each other. "Amy was in floods of tears. This guy was screaming at her.
"She was cowering in the corner and I thought he was going to hit her. When the lift door opened, she took off across the lobby at a real pace."Wow this dude is a pretty good fighter. He kicked that emaciated girls ass. Kudos to you, sir.

Emaciated or not, a man doesn't hit a woman. Maybe that's me being old fashioned but that's the way I see it.

No. With the exceptions of maybe a 400 lb. armed woman mugger jumping you in an alley, men don't hit women. A domestic fight? I think in most situations a man can restrain the woman. I never said women couldn't or didn't hurt men and I never called them delicate flowers. I also never said a man couldn't WANT to hit a woman. But carry out that desire, some situations excepted, and there's a bottom feeder before my eyes.

No his mistake was to not get out before hitting her. By the way, that guy is also a serious druggie. Where's your contempt for him?

Koan brought the possibility this was staged to light. I think it is possible and if you think about what has been going on here lately with Spears it seems to be a trend.
It could very well be staged. Any publicity is good publicity I guess. I don't know anything about Amy to comment, but on Spears, I think that there is just a case of too rich, too young, too naive and very unbalanced of an individual. What do you guys think?
