DUI - I'm pissed
My best friend (a teacher) - killed in a motorcycle accident by one of his own students driving drunk. He was dragged 5 blocks under the vehicle before she stopped.
He survived 2 years in VietNam. My daughter's Godfather - and how he took that responsibilty to heart - he was ALWAYS there for her - ALWAYS. Want to hear an irony? No - too bad..... There was a DARE meeting at her school and they talked about this girl who killed my daughter's Godfather while drunk. The officer kept talking about how this girl's lofe had been negatively affceted I WAS at the assembly. The police officer kept giving heart to the girl in in attempt to get the kids NOT to drive drunk. My daughter stood up and YELLED - "It was my Godfather she killed" My daughter ran out - I ran after her - the school counselors ran after me.
BTW - she was sentenced to hang his picture in her bedroom for 2 years. She took a good person from our lives. MADD

How about a 5th DUI charge that ended in the death of a dad, and 2 small daughters - the mom lived and is with out her family...and this man had 5 charges!! - finally is justice served?- NO - death should not be that option..He went to prison for 18 months..and had killed 3 people? Kind of like the Meth dealers here that get a slap on the wrist.... :-5 :-5

DUI laws are not nearly enforced enough. The punishment, pathetic. I know a lady in WV who killed a man while driving drunk. Her punishment? She lost her license for a whole 20 days. A guy up the street did 3 years after his 13th DUI. He got out, and is right back at it. I'm afraid that by the time Ohio actually does something with him, it'll be too late for some family. :-5

DUI - I'm pissed
very very saddened to hear of this. my sincere condolences.

The whole sentencing end of our legal system is stightly screwed up anyways. People with 5,6, 13 DUI's and still out and about. While a gentleman in North Carolina was released from prison after spending 35 years in for stealing a 19 inch black&white TV in 1970. He was charged with 2nd degree burglary which, at the time, carried a maximum of a life sentence. Now granted, he had two priors for theft; but did he really need to spend 35 years in prison? Personally, I think not. Not when you consider this thread in the grand scheme of things.

My heart goes out to you hun. (I annonmously support MADD)
Impaired Driving is such a criminal act, and our laws here are so watery and weak it makes me sick. And it seems no efforts are working to solve this problem. I have stopped friends from driving drunk, I have driven friends home due to being too drunk, I have been belted for taking friends keys away, but not everyone takes that action.
So sorry you have to live through this as well my heart goes out to your daughter.

DUI - I'm pissed
not intending any levity at all here - there's been discussion elsewhere on FG regarding the very different meaning of "I'm pissed" in america as opposed to in the UK...in america, it means "I'm angry" - in britain, it means "I'm drunk".
i wonder if i might have permission to change the topic title. perhaps "DUI - I'm Angry!" or some such.

In Canada we use both, imagine our confusion,
I also like Mad and Angry, in Canada mad is angry, in UK isn't mad = to crazy.
YOu could change it to I'm Pissed Off, that we use here loads
