College Interview.............

Post by SuzyB »

Tomorrow I have an interview for the college course that I wanted to enroll on, the course starts on Monday so I am hoping that they may give some indication tomorrow on whether we have been successful or not. They have already filled ten places and they are offering fourteen, they did say that they were interviewing quite a few people tomorrow, so I will just have to see how it goes :)

I went for the interview and I am not going to do the pyschology course, I am starting the Access- Social work course on Monday. I was in the interview and completed my presentation on myself when she asked if I had ever thought about training to become a social worker, she then went and got the Course Manager who went on to interview me. After my interview with him he said he would love me to start on Monday, so I did it :D I will update you all earlier with the modules that I will be doing.

Boops you was right I will be doing English and Maths, level 3

Me too :wah: It actually made me laugh when he said that many of the things which I will be studying may be trigger points, he knows nothing, if I can live in this nuthouse I can cope with anything :wah:

hehehehe yup, I'm doing maths and english lit, law, psychology, sociology, IT and communications. Are you going to be doing the same sort of stuff?

It's been good, in each lesson we've had to introduce ourselves to each other and the lecturers. Already we have quite a tight knit supportive group, it's nice!

I'll be doing Maths and English Lang level 3, Sociology, Social Policy, Health Studies, Practice in Helping Professions, Psychology. I dont have to do IT as I have a diploma in it.

I am glad that you are enjoying it. :-6 Wil you go on to do the degree?

Possibly, I hope to yes, just remember where I live! Although things are changing big time down here, our little college is going to join forces with the college in the nearest city, which in turn will allow us to do degrees without having to go away.

I wonder if thats the same sort of Access course that Venus did, is it called access to nursing?

No it is Access- Social Work, they do do a access nursing but you know the way I feel about hospitals, so probably not a good avenue for me to go down :wah:

As soon as this course is done I could seek employment in the Social Work field as an Assistant Social Worker, if I wanted to become a Social Worker I would have to go on and do the degree. I think that is why it made sense for me to do this course as I really don't think that I would be able to do a degree with everything else going on.

Ah, they don't do that one down here, just the nursing or Higher Education which is the one I'm doing, although thinking about it one of our ladies is going on to do the social work degree after this course.

I would like to do a psychology degree after but will see, I'm interested in Criminal psychology and Forensics.

My health visitor (still friends after all these years) always urges me to consider being a social worker.

well done suzy. Social work is a thankless job though. Damned if you do and damned if you don't as far as kids are concerned, but my mum was a social worker who was attached to mental health care and that was very rewarding..supporting people in the community etc. Very frustrating at times as well!
