"Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars. Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, 'I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight', people would say, 'Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a damn word that comes out of his mouth.' " Michael Jackson

I am sure it is a beautiful song......but I refuse to listen to a song called

"Make Me A Pallet On Your Floor"

Just out of interest.....does pallet in the US mean the same as in the UK ?

A rough wooden structure that enables a fork lift to pick up heavy wieghts placed on them ?
I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

Hi Bruv,

A pallet to us is a makeshift bed. Usually a blanket or two on the floor for cushioning and one on top for warmth. That's what the song is referring to. But we also have the type of pallets that require forklifts. :)

:wah: That's okay Bruv- it's not country western, it's American Folk. You're safe.

American Folk ?

If I listen and start to choke up.....are you going to restore my reputation as a stiff upper lipped brit ?

I shall............on your recommendation...listen to the intro.

Should there be any mention of disabled children, lost loved ones, elderly parents, lost chances, living for the moment, or any heart rending references ....I shall hold your responsible for any loss of my self control.
