As much as I don't like her husband, I do like Mrs. Bush. She's a nicer side of America and I'm hoping people will see that side of us too.

Not sure (and I mean this as an `open query`, not to slag anybody off) that democracy is `seen to work` when people always have to have massive security back up......
The Frist Lady In Isreal
Well, the wife of the Leader of the Free World would have tight security anywhere anyway, even in Geneva! So I don't think it's a big deal.

I think it just goes to show how intense the feelings in that part of the world are. Here in the U.S. we don’t know what it is to be committed to a position as strongly as the people in Israel are (on all sides). It is like the pressures of the world are being brought to bear on one point, a little country that would fit in the state of Oregon 5 times.

We all saw who was the most hung! SADDAM! Little George's voice is too squeaky to be a real Man!

No normal woman is going to stay with this guy for that reason. She is there for 2 reasons. Money and prestige. Make no mistake, she's a hooker.
I really don't understand peoples sychophantic tendancies especially when it comes to politicians.
They are all equally worthless. If Kerry and Bush were the best America could produce we are in deep do-do.I concur. Laura is the Carmella Soprano of the US. Anything for money and clout. She's as fake as the Iraqi Government!!

Can I ask a serious question, love her or loathe her does not the first lady deserve some respect? I am all for trying to knock politicians out of their ivory towers but she seems to be ok, wasn't she a primary school teacher over here for a while?

I think she, and her husband, are both dolts, but if anyone physically attacks the first lady I say they get a drill in the knee cap.

What politician do you know that is worthy of respect? What politician do you know that has really made a difference in this world? Really did something for the good of all of us?
I will admit I am biased. Very biased.
But to me all politicians are equally worthless. There are 3 things that blind me with contempt and anger. Taxes (how they are wasted), people that drive with cellphones and scumsucking politicos.
Have a nice day. I am off to Russia.
I said this about President Clinton and I’ll say it about President Bush. The respect we show is for the office they hold. If we don’t get back to respecting the offices we elect people to, the day will come when we will be afraid to say anything about the dictator that takes their place. There is a huge difference between discussing an elected official’s judgment and calling them disrespectful names.

Nicely said, Clint.
And Scrat....I know you don't like any politicians, but what other option do we have? Without political systems (and politicians) all that's left is the Wild West. Total Anarchy.
If I'm faster on the draw than you, or sneakier, or have more gangster brothers, then I get to shoot you and take everything you have.
That's not civilization...it's barbarism.

Perfect Clint, that is what I meant to say. you surely must reflect the office and with that goes a respect for the spouse.
Without goading Scrat anymore than he needs do any of my American friends remember a time when the man/woman on the street was more polarised in their political views. It seems so to me but that may just be the way it is presented in the media. i.e. If you are democrat you are a pro abortionist, tree hugging, commie and if you are a Republican you are a Gun loving, Pro life, religous fundamentalist who invades other states. Those of you have seen my previous posts know that this is a serious question. is there really this huge feeling of dis-enfranchisment in the USA?

This is as bad as I’ve seen it. The first President I was aware of was Eisenhower and I’ve been involved in local politics for 25 years. The lack of civility at the local level has become almost unbearable. I think political correctness is much to blame. The issues used to be discussed and defused before they grew to the point they felt unmanageable. We have gone through a period where honest and open discourse has been stifled by the fear of saying something that might offend someone. Now, rather than stepping on toes we find ourselves having to step on heads in an effort to get the same results.
