Weird stuff in the mail - advice please?

Post by 911 »

I don't know about where you are, but over here it is a federal crime to send sick or perverted stuff in the mail and they can be fined or imprisoned for it.

It really depends on exactly what it is and if she can prove who sent it. Report it to the postal authorities and have them investigate it. If they find out who is doing it, perhaps she can file charges on them.

That would follow them for the rest of their lives if they are found guilty. Perhaps it would even make the papers, cause them embarrasment and maybe lose their job. I think that would probably hurt a lot worse and for a lot longer than just a punch in the face. :sneaky: :wah:
When choosing between two evils, I always like to take the one I've never tried before.

She's 99.9% sure who is doing it, as the sorts of things that are arriving are linked to info that she's only told a few people, but it's screwed up weird sh1t all the same. My advice was to do one of the following:

a) Parcel everything up and send it back to them so they know she's aware who it is

b) Use some 'grey' magic to send the vibes back to the sender and bind them

(I told her exactly what to do - the sicko had better not go out for a while if she does follow through with that one)

c) Turn up and punch them. Hard.

I mean what kind of sick whacko does that sort of crap? She hasn't antagonised anyone, she's always been an honest kind of person...if it was me I'd do all three!

Any advice?

a) She'd better be absolutely certain first

b) A fitting response - just as hard to track back and prove as the incoming

c) A punch in the face is highly satisfying but being bound over with a criminal record is less so - not good

I go with the rest - report it and keep pushing for results

Yeah i would tell her to report it, and maybe even take the stuff with her to the station so they can keep a track,

if she has like envelopes with post marks on and dates etc....(if there are any post marks do they say were they have come form?) :-3

see if the police can follow a pattern,

It's weird and sick stuff... I'm assuming this is pornographic material? Is it commercial, private? Does it violate any decency laws? Is it visible on the exterior of the packaging?

Actually, in this country... unsolicited mail is generally protected by the 1st ammendment under Freedom of Speech, both for the senders and the recipients rights. The government will only intervene here in the States under one of the following conditions. By the way, all the stereotypes regarding the US Postal Service... yup... I don't believe I need to mention how reporting such things go... especially how this ranks in the whole scheme of things. IE it's not exactly a mail bomb or covered in a powdery white residue.

1) Obscene material sent via mail which falls under (18 U.S.C. 1461).

2) Distributing pornography (76-10-1204 U.C.A.).

3) Obscene images or text on the outside of the package (18 U.S.C. 1463).

4) After filing a prohibitory order, the persons continue sending material to you

(39 U.S.C. 3008 and 3010).

Depending upon the type of material that is being sent... and I'm not certain if this is merely commercial catalogues selling condoms or those little Playboy postcards with sexually explicit poses on the outside... all the naughty bits concealed, of course. The British laws are a bit different over there, mind you, but... probably not all that different and I'm thinking possibly more lax. I'm thinking it won't be much more than preventing it from being sent again...

Regarding your suggestions:

A) Don't give them the satisfaction. For all they know their lil' prank got lost in the mail.

B) If it works, sure what's the harm? :p

C) Absolutely not. If it helps, do punch a pillow or something or perhaps tack their likeness to a dart board and throw darts at it or something.

I hope that helps.

Return to sender

refuse all deliverys - return to sender

Report this package/gift to your postmaster & Police

cut the sender off - is this like a stalker type thing ? Is your friend aware of her surroundings? the objects arriving are strange at best - is there a meaning of any kind?

I once had flowers delivered to me every day at work - signed the Phantom.

Weird stuff - weird people

Oh, I know all about stalkers... and so did my landlords and neighbours every time I broke up with a girlfriend. :wah: One landlord was constantly having to replace the doorlocks that were filled with superglue... and windows that were broken and/or spraypainted... once it was blackstrap molasses spread all over my front porch and down the steps (she was a chef)... :wah: My properties are gated now, though... and I'm much more selective with my girlfriends, nowadays. Hopefully, it won't be an issue anymore, though. ;)

Even big, strong men who carry guns, have to watch out for ex g/f stalkers. These people are desperate and are so unpredictable when they completely lose it.

I certainly hope that if this is the case for your friend, that... she's prepared for it. Do take precaution if this is indeed the case. The stats aren't very encouraging in these cases.

I would report it, and then somehow if it's not illegal over there use a voice activated tape recorder and have a conversation, in person with them, then you will know if they really sent it and you can take the verbal evidence to the cops.:sneaky:
