DoG drAmA- ALmost Done!

Post by RedGlitter »

Well....the dog saga is almost to an end. The crunch is ON! I got the necessary funds now I have to get a vet to squeeeeze me in...get more vet records....locate a flatbed trailer for the runs....disassemble said runs....deliver 8 dogs. Thank God she's taking all 8 after all. I wasn't sure. That leaves me with my own three family dogs and my problem child Lizzie who's still pretty feral. Try to put a lead on her and she goes bananas. But we can work with that. Now I'll have more time to give to her. I hope my dogs will go on to have happy comfortable lives. Their lives have been hell and being in foster care for a long time wasn't helping.

I wasn't planning to be so stressed, I mean these things I have to do are small potatoes compared to the fear that my friend wouldn't take the dogs, so what am I worried about? Yet I am.....I don't sleep, I pass out.

Pretty soon it'll all be different.

Thanks Neffers!! :-4

Carla, my neighbors complained some months back about barking and I went to court over it and all. I run a nonprofit rescue out in the boondocks and I never bothered getting a kennel license because I didn't figure anyone would bother us. They got me on that so I have to pay $300 and get a year of probation. I can have 4 dogs total. I already have three of my own and I'm keeping my Lizzie. The other guys are going to foster at a colleague's rescue an hour away and some of them will be going to California to the Helen Woodward Animal Foundation which will place them in homes. Both groups are no-kill as is my group. I'm going to miss my guys but they so deserve a better chance at happiness and real families. If I didn't do this, the damn pound would seize them and kill them. They have no idea what that would do to me. I could never live with that. I'm going to be worried about them...and also relieved that they'll be going to more professional places.

So that's the short story. ;) It's been an ongoing thing for months. I'm back in court Aug. 17th to report what I've done.

ps: I've been meaning to mention this to you....how nice it is to see you around! :)

RG that's a shame you have been through hell for sure. You are doing the right thing by the animals not to worry. Helen Wordward is right here in San Diego in Ranch Santa Fe it is a premier placement center for all animals the best there is. It is a beautiful place on land that is spectular in its size. I know it well my Niece's have done volunteer work there many summers. It is the best of the best and they will be well cared for and only adopted out to the proper families. Most of there animials are seen on all our local TV channels as adoptable pets. This should ease you mind totally, your very luck Helen Woodward is taking them.

Thanks kiddo it is great to be around again. :yh_hugs

AWESOME!!!

Thank you Carla! I'm sitting here grinning ear to ear! I am even more relieved to hear such good about it. And somehow knowing it's near you, I feel more comforted. Not all of my guys meet their criteria...I expect four of the males to make the trip to Helen's. The other four will get placed by my friend.

For a long time I was really vengeful toward my neighbors over this. Hadn't done anything but was considering it. But I finally realized they were just tools in this situation, that it really couldn't have happened any other way. I still think they're chickensh*t for how they handled it but I'm not angry anymore.

RG let the anger go it solves nothing. The end result is the animals are going to great places and will be well cared for. So rest easy and be done with this awful event in your life, and your neighbors. Not their faults eilther, of course they could have handled it better but they didn't.;)

Well guess what....

She is balking at taking my three extra dogs. I got an email last night. Now she wants to do this *gradually* even though I have explained from Day One that I am on a time limit.

I replied last night offering to come stay on her floor for a while and clean and walk dogs. I said I was at her mercy. I begged for my dogs' lives. I am not proud.

So this morning she wrote back and among other things, told me we needed to discuss what financial contribution I may be able to make. Okay, I said from the start I would be paying largely and I haven't told her but I was fixing on two grand for 8 dogs. Heck even for five dogs. I don't know what she has in mind. So I wrote back and asked her what kind of number she had in mind. I am waiting on her response.

I was so upset last night I couldn't hardly see straight. I KNEW this would happen. I had that gut feeling yesterday and I ignored it.

All I can do is ask my defender to get me another court redress but I don't know if he will or can.

Today I opened a new business account at a new bank and that went okay. But nothing else has.

I am out of five medications, one of them Vicodin, and can't see my doctor for a month. So I took a cab down to PromptCare and they were closed. The cab had split and I realized I had no cell phone with me. So I had to walk to the convenience store in this heat and use the payphone. Called home and asked my dad to send me another cab but our friends were visiting so one came and rescued me.

Everybody's getting on my nerves, this red wine sucks, and I don't know what I'm going to do.

I took sleeping pills last night to settle down and I am so tired.

I am completely drained.

But my dogs are all that I care about.

This woman has thrown hoops at me since the first day, so I should have known.
