The Muckle Big Cat

Post by joesoap »

A woman told of her terror after seeing a "muckle big cat" in a field near Alnwick. Police have warned people to be on their guard and not approach the creature. Ella Houk, 57, was walking her dog, Thrushie, when she came face-to-face with the beast at around 8.30am. Trying not to look into the animal's eyes, terrified Ms Houk picked up her pet, stood still and then backed away until the cat was out of sight. She said: “Christ wot a gliff, a nearly passed meesell and a had ta puke up before a got yhem. A axed aboot but nay ones seen it, the ahl think am puggled " she said. Ms Houk spotted the creature again in a field near St.Georges Crescent a few days after the first sighting three weeks ago.

Av niver seen nout like it," she said. "I couldn't believe ma glimmas when a saw it again." The animal was described as fat and black, with some ginger showing through its coat. It had long hair with a long tail.

Sightings of muckle big cats have proliferated in the area over the last 20 years, amid claims that they are breeding in the wild after being released from private animal collections. Reports are frequent, however, animal experts at Wooler Zoo said the animal may have been an exceptionally over fed cat. A spokeswoman was quoted as saying: “well, there has been a special offer on whiskas at Safeway A police spokesman said: "The previous night, she saw a large catlike animal. "As yet, we have had no further reports of any sightings but we would warn people to be on their guard and not to approach this animal.

Some 15 years ago, a muckle big cat was reported to have been seen in Swansfield Park Road where large paw prints were found in a garden. Despite searches by police and gamekeepers, no trace of the creature was found.:-3
