Poppys moving his girlfriend in.....

Now and then I write about my Dad. We call him Poppy. Its a nice change, I think from news, weather, politics, and surveys. I guess he would want to shoot me for exposing his life on the internet. But since he doesnt really know what the internet is, Im pretty certain he will never find out heheheheh. Well anyway, for those of you who have missed previous Poppy threads.... he will be 80 this September. His latest girlfriend, companion, soon to be roomie, is 51. Yes, thats right.. they are moving in together. My mom divorced him around 20 years ago. He suffered for a long time. Held on to loving her, despite her being really mean to him, every chance she got. He hasnt been a great achiever, but he wasnt a bad man. Her anger towards him simply stems from the fact that she made a mistake marrying him... he wasnt what she wanted. And so her revenge has been belittling him on a regular basis. It has been a surprise to me that I have felt kind of repulsed by the fact that this woman is younger than me. And I really cant relate at all to a 51 year old being interested in an 80 year old man. ( He doesnt have money) But lately Ive been thinking... Boy, good for him that he decided he didnt want to be alone anymore, and he did something about it. The issue that cracks me up about this though, is that this is the dad who basically threw me out of the house in 1971 because he found out( from our family doctor) that I had had sex with my boyfriend. Bastard!!!!! The Doctor... that is. So... Poppy is making room in his closets for Rosie ( we will call her Rosie) to start moving in. He is a changed man. He used to call my sister and I at least 3x a day. Now we have to ask each other... " Have you heard from Poppy?" Its great. The only down side is that now because hes found his way.... he thinks everyones answer to whatever ails them, is to make the same choice he has. I came back from Georgia and told him about Mr. Nose Hairs...... hes told me 6x in 24 hours.." Go back to Georgia, Laura.. get this guy... maybe hes the answer to all your problems" Sending me off to hook up with a complete stranger. That is one of the problems with Poppy. Hes kind of a moron in many ways. No sense getting angry with him... he doesnt hear me. So now Rosie can enjoy him.She can talk about anything. and he will filter out what he doesnt like. My sister and I will know hes got company, and Mommy wont have anymore opportunitys to belittle him. She cant..... right now, for a little while... hes sitting " On top of the world"

Maybe next week Ill tell you about the harmless drunk who lives in the house across from my mom. and has the hots for her. Shes 77 and hes around 50. She loves telling him to get lost.... it empowers her:wah: Aint Life Grand?
