I thought big spiders were Boris.

Round this part of Bristol we seem to have a colony of the most collosal brutes. They live outdoors and come in and out through the windows and air vents. They can move like lightning half way across a room. Logically they eat other stuff as well but all my daughter ever caught them eating was smaller spiders. She took one to school one day and lost it in the sixth-form common room after half the occupants had already passed out in fright. She's not the kindest child on the block when she gets a notion.

I have nightmares about snakes...have dreams that I'm in the woods and I'm surrounded by them, can't get away....eeeekkkkk....

Spiders are okay, not crazy about them, but they don't freak me out.

Suzy, I'm sorry that frogs scare you the way they do...we have frogs everywhere around here, last year I had a big bull frog that would sit on my front porch every evening...think I named him George...not sure where he went to, but haven't seen him this year??

I also have blue tail lizards that live under my house and come out and say hello every now and again...

What I can't handle are BATS!!!

I don't mind snakes or spiders but would be really afraid to encounter a grizzly bear.

years ago, i woke up and started to get ready for work. i noticed a red raised patch on my inner arm, scratched it a few times didn't pay too much attention to it and went to work. luckily it was hot that day, so i wore a short sleeved shirt. anyway about 2 hours into the work day, my friend says look at your arm. i did, and going up my arm starting from that red patch were a several red lines about 4 or 5 inches long! then my boss came along, looked, and said my arm looked like in needed medical attention. so he told my friend to drive me to the er. the er doctor looked at my red patch under a giant magnifying glass, got some instruments and lanced the area and put some anti-bacteria cream on it, and bandged it. he then gave me a tetinious shot, and told me most likely i was bitten by a brown recluse spider! lucky me!

all this, because i lived out in the clean air, woodsy, brush country! :)

Survival advice is to "wash your skin often" which sounds very outdoors tough-guy talk to me.

But no brown recluse, you're right about that.

Cars, that's a horrible tale, I'm glad you survived. I'll tell you about my horsefly bite some day.

On the contrary, it probably brought up fifty offspring on all the blood it took from my veins and sent them all to horsefly university as well.

We have huntsman and redback spiders, they send chills right down my spine, hate them. The redbacks are poisonous, the huntsman are hugh but harmless, omg if they get anywhere near me u wont see me for dust.I read an artical that a guy brought an exotic palm back from mexico and planted it in his back garden, after a few weeks wen he was watering it...it started to shudder,he did the same the next day and it was worse,so a bit worried he phoned his local garden centre and told them, they said to call the agricultural dep,he did. They came out to check it and he was told to get his family out of the house and the people next door. Then they went in with a flame thrower and used it on the palm, after a short time it exploded and millions of spider all came flying out of it and they burnt all of them.Apparently a certain kind of spider makes its home in these type of palms and lay there eggs there,It takes a few month's for them to hatch and this guy had just bought it a short time before that was about to happen, they flamed the whole palm and all the spiders. They are also deadley. The guy couldnt beleive it.OMG I would freak sooooooooooooooo much.
