It stinks getting old!!!
It stinks getting old!!!
Well while working on a project around our house today I went & did it!
I'm pretty sure I tore my forearm mussle in my left arm lifting a 4ft x 6ft x 5/8"tk sheetrock board over my head to the ceiling. A wicked pain popped in my forearm along with a ripping like sound, something rubbing againt a balloon. Well now I can't move my arm up or down without getting excrutiating pain down the whole arm, only can move it from it side to side.
It's no fun getting old, my wife keeps telling me I'm too old to be doing "big" projects around the house! I hate to have to admit it, guess she's right!

Thanx for going through the pain of letting us know.......... NOW GET TO THE DOCTOR!!
Fingers crossed for ya, buddy.

That's going to take along time to mend if it got near a nerve, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too. I, unlike you, can still cross my fingers, but it took months to get back to that point after I screwed my elbow a few years back (being also old and decrepit). It was months before I could lift my arm above my shoulder.
Meanwhile, hire a bloody builder.
eta: I just remembered - I lifted a 4'x8' 9mm sheet and fixed it to a ceiling only last month, so it does mend eventually.

Yup, it stinks getting old. That gym trainer made me lift weights, so I couldn't lift nothing for three days! What good did that do me! :p

Awww Cars, I'm so sorry that you are in pain :yh_hugs:yh_hugs
I understand completely...I found out last Saturday the hard way...I ran and jumped into the pool with my kids and my calf went SNAP!! I can hardly walk now, Doc said it's a muscle sprain....I'm getting teased that I'm not 20 anymore...and it sucks!!
Here's hoping for a quick recovery for you Cars!!:-4:-4

Thanks all for your well wishes. I was not planning on going to the doctor, thought it would mend on its own? I used to play sports when much younger, football, baseball, dribble ball. Actually was quite good, if I do say so myself! However, I was in great athelethic physical shape back then. Stinks now how things change!

Thanks Chonsi, & Sunny, yes it's slightly less painful today when I move my forearm the wrong way & try to use that mussel.
We're going to our local casino on Sunday, luckily for me those one arm bandits have the button on the "right hand side"! :wah:
And jimbo, you reminded me of the joke that goes:
This 85 year Old man wakes up one morning & his "soldier" is standing at attention. So he quicky wakes up his wife & says to her look what I have honey, "what do you think we should do with it"? She looks it and says, well now that you've got all the wrinkles out, why don't you wash it!!!
:rolleyes::p

Thanks for you concern neffy. Well, I woke up this morning & low & behold, my forearm looks kinda scary. The damaged area of my forearm has faint blood stains under the skin. (not black & blueish, but redish) The pain only occurs when I move my arm with palm facing up. I actually called my doctor last night, he told me if I thought it bad enough, then I should go to the ER! Looks like I need to find a new doctor. (No I didn't go to the ER!)

It stinks getting old!!!
The Ct Sun BB game against the Huston Comets yesterday was unbelievably fantastic! With a tie score throughout the entire game! The game was 81 to 79 right up to the last "2" seconds of the game, with Huston taking the last shot of the game.
The ball bounced off the rim's edge, the crowd gave out a deafining rah, which left the CT Sun winning that exciting game!!!! Our Granddaughter loved it, & so did I!
Oh yeah, Monday's Forearm update!
Yesterday (Sunday) my forearm got somewhat more discolored, but we were at the Casino waiting for the BB game to start at 4PM. So I let it slide.
Today, Monday, when I woke up the discoloration got a little more colorful. During lunch at lunch the restaurant my wife says oh wow look at your arm!!! I looked at my arm and got the bijezus scared out of me as the lower part of my forearm turned almost blueblack! So we finished lunch, & we proceeded to check out of the Hotel. On the way home we dropped off our Granddaughter at her house, & then I called my doctors office on car the ride & told them I was on my way over & they needed to squeeze me in!!! Well, anyway after waiting what seem like an eternity, I finally got to see the doctor!! He examined it, felt it, & said yep, you broke some blood vesseles, & tore up my mussel, & that it was still "bleeding internally" as we spoke! So I need to keep my arm immolized in a sling & keep putting ice packs on it for the next three days!!! (I should have been doing that for the last 3 days!)
Attached is a pix, that really doesn't do the discoloration justice!

I know that I would've been at the hospital as soon as my arm made that 'rubbing a balloon' sound.
Good for you, tough guy. Try not to test that arm too soon okay?

thanks all, it takes me a while to type with my one good hand. cause the other is in a sling with an ice pack on it, and is not being moved/used for the next 3 days. doctors orders! if i dont do what he said, he said i will have major problems! so. . . .
immy thats a big part of my problem, i have always been one to never ask for help. when i was younger that worked fine for me. so now that i'm older i still have trouble bringing myself to bother others for help. guess i will have to change my ways and ask for help! i'd better!
