Skye bridge - the only road link from the mainland. Now there is no toll charge.

I've only been able to get up there twice Joan, since they moved in a few years ago ! Not so much the distance, 450 miles - more the cost of petrol in our Volvo ! And we break the journey with a B & B, and that's not very cheap either (two ways). My sister Eddy now can't stand coming over to the mainland, but when they have to they sigh with relief when they see that bridge on their return - she says ' Ah home' ! Can't fault her Joan ! We'd love to live there too but my hubby's relatives are mostly near London, so he would very rarely be able to see them, which would be a shame as they are a very close family, and we aint gettin any younger !

They live at the North West side of the island, and that picture is what they see from their sitting room 'picture' double glazed window ! The piccy I'm referring to is the one in my previous post !

Also house prices are rising, mostly beyond our means. It's all those people who buy up the houses and make them into holiday lets. Our coastline villages are being ruined by these actions. They are killing off our lovely coastal villages and I cannot understand why councils allow it. Because of this young locals cannot afford to stay, thus keeping 'young blood' in the area, and the villages loose their shops because the place dies in the winter season and those shopkeepers cannot survive through the winter months because there are so few actual residents.

I'll just step down from my soap box ! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

HI Joan, well that sounds like a brilliant trip! we are going to dorset for a week in a cottage then up in to worcester area for another week,, im hoping the weather is better than it has been, when we booked it we expexted lovely weather for this time of year at the places we are going:-5 Anyway have afab hols and see u when u get back,, although i think u are back before us, we are back 28th July:-6

Well it didn't turn out to be too bad a day after all I took Tony to the Doctor's this afternoon,still no results back from his CT scan but another tablet which could help his memory , but I have been advised not to start him on it until after we come off holiday.

Monday week we fetch our dear little Sophie we are getting very excited , I did mention it to our Doctor and he said it is good therapy for us both so that is encouraging, either that or another baby !!! and where do you buy terry towelling napkins these days and safety pins, my goodness how different things are today from when I had my daughter in 1955, wonderful days.
