Im a writer!!!!!

Last month my small town newspaper ran an ad looking for a feature writer.

For the first time in my life, I got up the courage to send samples of my writing to the paper, and to apply for the job. This courage was largely due to the encouragemnt, compliments, and support I have received from so many of you here, the past few years.

I did not get the job as feature writer...... I did get put on the list of freelance writers used by the paper. I am signing a copyright contract this afternoon, and being given my first assignment. This really is exactly what I wanted. I did not want a job sitting at a desk for 40 hours a week.

The pay is only 40.00 per story. That is not the important part. The thrill of it is having the opportunity to see my name in print, and to use the stories as a stepping stone to perhaps writing for magazines.

See if you can't do your first job on internet forums. That way you won't have to do too much investigation.:wah:

What a great idea...... Oh, and how could I sit at a desk for 40 hours a week?? I sit at THIS computer at least 20 hours a week conversing with all of you!!! So, I think I got my supporting members fees reimbursed. Membership here could lead to a career. Who would have thunk it??:wah:
