The Best Advice You've Received?
What's some of the best advice you've ever received?
Has it made you think differently about things?
I once asked my dad to put a new battery in one of my cheapo watches. When we couldn't get the back off, I said "well I guess I'll have to toss it and get a new one."
Dad said:
"Hold your horses. If they put it together, it can come apart the same way."
It was like a flash when he said that and I have applied that to many different things in my life. It reminds me that no one's hands are ever really tied and that there's always hope.

The best advice I ever received was to save/invest first and then spend and there will always be enough to live on. Spending first never leaves anything to save/invest.

I think recently, the best advice for me was yesterday from my doctor. He told me I needed to start to trust my surgeon again. He really does make since, I do have to trust the surgeon, because I need another surgery.

A friend of mine was giving me advice on people who say negative things:
"Consider your source"
To this day, I still call her the "Wise Woman" for that piece of advice.

The Best Advice You've Received?
Most people live their lives in this sequence when reacting to situations:
feel
act
think
The best way:
think
act
feel
That, I believe, is the true secret to life and is the best advice I've ever gotten. Letting your emotions run your life ends in trouble every time. It can be simple, like getting instantly hurt when someone says something that offends you and snapping back at them, or big, like not leaving an abusive partner because you "feel" attached to him/her or you "feel" that you really love him/her. The examples are endless and those simple little rules could save us all a lot of heartache and miscommunication.

It is better to have your mind opened by wonder
than closed by belief.

Best advice... Act like you know what you are doing, or are supposed to be doing it, and no one will question you.
That's like magic. In my wild days, which are... mostly over :yh_angel I got away with some crazy stuff.

The Best Advice You've Received?
My sister always tells me 'No one cares' and its true.
But seriously, I used to worry about everything, I was so vain. I always had 2 jobs, in school, volunteering (which are all excellent things that I still do and enjoy). But I know how to do these things for the right reasons now. In the big picture, whatever you do has nothing to do with the price of tea in China. Ive learned that its impossible to please EVERYONE. And I can wear unmatching socks and sing in public and people probably wont remember a few days later. My husband will never notice that I gave him the bigger portion of meat at supper or that I stole a few truckloads of electronics last month (just kidding). Really, its all so petty on a gigantic scale of the world. Ive learned so much from focusing outward...ok Im done.
