Sitting here at work and alone till midnight I just can't help but fill everyone in on something big happening to me very soon! I live in a battered violent neighborhood near the city's core and have had a horrible time trying to sell, refinance, ANYTHING to get out of the area. I owe 29 more years of house payments so I'm truly stuck as the area is KC's worst as far as crime and poverty and no one buys in these neighborhoods.(Except crack) About to double my drinking or start doing hard drugs, I received a letter from a corporation in partnership with the city's minority community development corp. They are leveling my neighborhood and building a 450 million dollar shopping center on top of it! And MY HOUSE IS IN THE BULLDOZE ZONE! They are paying off my mortgage, paying for my move and buying me a property equal in size plus 10%! UNREAL! Luck doesn't usually swing my direction but my dreams have been answered! I'm out of the area and will have another property to start over at! All within the next 90 days! I'll miss my little bungalow but I won't miss being the only cracker in the 'hood anymore! I moved there to get a 1st chance at home ownership from decades of apartment living. I underestimated the amount of stress that's involved with living in a bad area. A new page in a better area. If I lived one block north of where I am I would have been excluded from the project boundaries! This is so great I'm CERTAIN something bad will happen to make up for this incredible stroke of luck.

seriously, that is great! :)Perhaps a touch of my anger and bitterness will melt away when I'm out of the ghetto! (You'd be surprised at how paranoid one becomes when placed in the minority position. Especially when the Majority are angry, bitter, poor and often violent!)

you sure they're getting millions in federal grants? but even so - that money is going into evil corporate capitalist bank accounts! you're feeding the capitalist monster!

you should definitely choose your next place based upon home appreciate rates. 'nice' areas almost always appreciate in value faster than the interest is costing you.

Do you think that can happen to me...We have a sex offender on our street - and then 1 block north 2 in an apartment building...We live in a nice hood but holy cow I sure wish our luck with our house would change...new furnance-air conditioner, water heater, soft water, and hmmmmmm new kitchen to cover up the flooded one when a pipe broke...This house is CURSED!!!!!!! LOLI love my little house but it's old (built in the early 20's) and I don't make enough to fix big breaks! I'm not known as a handyman so I have to pay for repairs. Just hope you are in an area that needs a highway, WalMart or Bolshevik Bookstore! You could be next! I just can't get over how fortunate I am. The project has been going on for 4 years and now they have federal financial backing and are breaking ground in November with the new 'village style' mall.

The city and feds are financing the project. My brother-in-law, a corporate lawyer (no laughing allowed) went to the meeting with me and he recorded all of it so we can make sure everything was understood. The largest re-develoment project in the KC area since the building of the Sprint HQ campus in the late 90's.

I'm glad I"m not the only one who thinks like this sometimes. Things could not be any better and there is that nagging thought, "whats about to blow". Nothing ever does but that thought is still there.

How was that? - I always hated Prof. Day at our school.. I have a college education BUT I was always the teachers Aide - or JUST the Deaf Ed teacher..Never did get anything like the reg.ed teachers did..

Actually I didn't have a hard time getting to sleep, it was staying asleep that was impossible! Up till 4, I should have slept till about noon. I was up at 9. It's my day off and I don't want to waste any of it. I've got flowers to plant!!
