Chili inna box???

Post by valerie »

Has anyone else seen this? Just noticed it yesterday.

Instead of a can, it's in those little boxes like the kid's

apple juice comes in. Smaller amount of product, of

course, and more expensive OF COURSE... and worst of

all, you can't microwave them!! So? I think maybe they

are trying to fit more on the shelf space or something...

No. What is it. Why do chilis come in cans, I've never seen them like that, only

fresg, dried, or powdered.

i believe she's referring to the dish 'chili', made typically of beans, meat, and a tomato-based sauce.

Ah! I see. I would call that "Chili con carne", not just "chili", which in the Yook

refers to various varieties of the Capsicum plant, not the dish mentioned.

Also here the name is often spelt "chilli" - I don't know why.

Sorry, and thanks Anastrophe, I did mean the dish and not the spicy little

pepper thing!!

But it's funny... 'cause especially if'n ya go to some place like Texas...

chili means JUST meat, but then some cans say CON CARNE, which means

"with meat". When really they have beans, too. So I dunno. But inna

BOX? If they're saving money by not putting it in steel cans... then they

certainly aren't passing it on to the consumer...
