Have a cold? Stay out of Iowa.

If you have a cold, don't come to Iowa. State legislators recently passed one of the toughest anti-meth laws in the country. One of the components of the new law is that all cold meds containing pseudo-ephedrine are to be sold exclusively at pharmacies.

Those wishing to purchase said medication will need to bring along valid picture ID and be 18 or older. Oh, and don't forget to sign the state-wide log sheet tracking those whom are buying the meds, how much and how often. These new regulations take effect Jan 1, '06. Hotsauce, get ready for an influx of flu-ish Iowans in a couple of months. lol

So they are still available to the public with an ID? I think this is a good move. I see nothing wrong with this law. They need to track this drug better anyway. In the past (in Missouri), you could only buy 2 boxes at a time. That didn't stop much. You could just go to every gas station down the street and buy two boxes from each...go home and brew your poison. I think checking identification is great!

Well, thats probably a good idea but it won't stop them. Probably just slow them down a little....making it harder for them to get.

I'm coming to Iowa next month, so I suppose I'm still safe if I need something

I was at Dollar General one day and some crack head was arguing about this with the checker..She plainly stated "you can only buy 2 boxes per day and you must sign this sheet.." The lady freaked and said OUT LOUD -"Fine I will but 2 here - 2 at Pac & Save, 2 at HyVee - blah blah..You guys are nuts.. I have 4 kids at home sick...I wanted to laugh - cuz I am like...hmmm if u need more then a box for 2-3 days - then you have issues and she made herself look like a fool..I am saying - PASS IT - cuz Iowa has a serious problem when they have 6th graders using Meth now.. I use to live in Southern Iowa and when those freaks - were stealing right out of the main Anhydrous (sp?) tank - and willing to burn themselves doing it...I had -had plenty..Its nasty and it is reaching out to our kids more everyday.. :-5

.....and definitely don`t come to the UK . Weather seems to make colds worse and more frequent here.....
