What is the last thing you did last night before falling asleep?

RedGlitter;637720 wrote: Well, for a few reasons actually. The main one was because I was having a lot of trouble with my ankles from the constant standing and every night I'd go home crying from the pain. At that time, doctors were telling me I'd be in a wheelchair by the time I was 30 and that I should get a different job. I mainly quit because of the pain.
But....there were other factors too.
You know how you sorta have to find the "right" salon for you? How you have to fit in? Some are fancy, some are family oriented, some are old lady roller sets, some are chop shops? I hated moving around. My first job was at "The Pink Mink." :wah: That should tell you what kind of place it was and I was fresh out of school and not cut out for their place. And they told me so. So I moved to about three more salons before I found one I fit well in and I stayed there for a little over a year. I liked it but we had some racial tension because they were Mexican and I was a white girl. I was also working two different jobs at the time and the boss didn't like that. I felt what I did after working for her was my own business. Plus I needed the money. I brought in a crapload of clientele and my work was good but my boss refused me a raise and that grated on me because I knew I was well worth it and she could afford it. In the end we had words and I left very unprofessionally. I thought I was cool then but I was just 21 and still had a lot to learn about showing grace under pressure.
Then I moved to Apple Haircutters which was a loud, noisy chop shop. I wasn't proud to work there because everywhere else I had worked, I had fixed Apple's bad haircuts on people. They sucked. But here's the rub: my boss who was a first rate SOB, didn't like my work. Okay so I swallowed my pride and asked him to teach me *his* way. That lasted about two weeks and he told me I was doing better and not to worry, that everything was fine. Then one day this young kid came in with straight, fine, cornsilk blond hair. You know the kind of blond that shows every cut mark so you have to cut it just special? That hair. I wasn't even halfway through my cut yet when SOB came over and in front of God, my client and everyone else in the shop, YELLED at me "That looks like sh*t!" And he flicked the kid's hair. Honest to God, I wanted the floor to open up and swallow me. I was so bloody humiliated I wanted to die right then. But I sucked it down again and I said "show me what you want me to do." Which was bogus because I wasn't a student anymore, I was a professional with a license that said so. So he finished the cut and later that day when everyone had left, he said to me "Terri, is there any other kind of work you could do?"
And instead of being a b*tch right back to him, I acted like he was right and my work did suck. He was older than me and had been in the business longer so I believed him because I was young and inexperienced and had little confidence in myself. If I'd had any presence of mind, I would have said 'Well if my work sucks, how come for the last three years I've been correcting YOUR f*ccking haircuts at every shop I work in!?" But instead I slunk on home and gave up my cosmetology career that same night. I was so humiliated and so ashamed and hurt; he made me feel like the absolute stupidest f*cck on the planet. Few people have ever made me feel that bad and I still loathe that SOB for it.
Smaller reasons....
I had a fairly good clientele built up (so I must not have sucked that bad) but with every move, I'd lose a few because they didn't like the shop I was in or the price change or the travel time. Some shops wouldn't hire me unless I had my own clientele but I didn't have a big enough one that I could survive on it alone.
I was a different person then from who I am now. Thank God for that too.
I did hair and acrylics from the time I was 18 till I was 21.
I was a scared little girl back then. I was shy and didn't quite know how to handle people and deal with them the way I'm able to now. I like being around people a lot more now than I did then and I'm a lot more easygoing than I used to be so it's easier for me. I wasn't enough of a people person back then. I only went into cosmetology because I was tired of working in the wire tie factory and I wanted something better for myself and at the time that seemed like the answer. Wish I had my four grand back.
Still with me Suzy??
That's my long answer. I still do hair out of my house but not the volume I used to and I'll never do acrylics again. Did you ever have to do those? They're torture!!
I no longer do false nails Red, I have been trained in acrylic, gel, silk and fibreglass, but when I started training as a beauty therapist, I tried to encourage customers to have regular manicures and try to show them how great their own nails could be.
Around my way we have a lot of Chinese people with nail bars, where they over drill the nails, use cheap products but only charge £20 ($10), so you tend to find that people dont want to pay £30 although the product is a lot better.
I have seen some peoples nails that will never grow correctly again from incorrect use of an electric drill and 1 girl that came to see me for something else, had had a set of nails put on while she had a fungal infection....not nice.

I don't have one. I'm not into football. But.... in the 70s I really liked John Cappelletti when he was a running back for the Rams. I thought he was really something.
Tater Tazz;638618 wrote: What kind of questions do you ask on a date?
Probably the usual questions everyone asks on a first date. Where has he lived, family, work, what does he do for fun, what stuff is he interested in. It depends on who the guy is, really. I know it's a cliche but I do always ask about his taste in music. I love to talk to people about music. I always like to know what other people like and if we share any common ground there. Plus, it's a "safe" area to talk about.
I'll fish him out and see if he shares any of my other interests. After the small talk is out of the way I'll talk about pretty much anything with him if we seem interested enough in each other. I won't get too personal though on a first date. Neither about him or about myself.

Yes I do. I think it's very elegant and romantic.
It's nice to see on TV but it's far more impressive seeing a ballet in person.

A pugilist is a person who fights with his fists for that of sport, usually a professional boxer. The word was coined in 1790.
G'Day Mate is the standard greeting in Australia.

Oh man, I have always sucked at probabilities. I'll say 50/50. It's probably tails though.

Probably because round is the most workable, functionable shape in nature. Also maybe because of... I want to say erosion but is there wind in space? I don't think so but I don't really know.
Is there really a 10th planet?
Yes. It's called Eris, after the Greek goddess of strife. It's a dwarf planet. In fact, it's the largest dwarf planet known.
Who named the planets and who decides what to name them?
The International Astronomical Union oversees the names. With the exception of Earth, all planets are named after mythological gods and goddesses.

I have mixed feelings about that. I'm not fond of real huge scary cities like NYC ( I assume you meant the city itself and not Upstate?) and have no desire to go there but if I did, I'd be seeing Ellis Island & Grand Central Station, the Flat Iron Building, the site of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, and an opera.

Depends. Ther's the religious answer and the scientific answer. My answer is it's always been there.

Could be a lot of things. Jumping the bus and going on a trip....shopping...hitting the antique stores...going out with a friend or out on a date...sometimes just loafing at home with the stereo on full blast, and doing nada....being out in the garage making stuff or painting... It just depends.

Why do people lie?
I really could not figure this on out. You know eventually you will get caught, so, why lie?

I didn't know there were any.
I doubt it would stop exploration. We want it too bad and have too much invested to quit now.

How've you been?
What's going on?
It's nice to see you.

Busy, working hard. Thanks for asking.

1. That's too personal.
2. Seeing someone I haven't seen in a long time.
3. Someone saying something nice to me.

Do you mean the Twin Towers? I've never seen them in person. But I've seen photos many times.

How does astrology work?
If you don't know how astrology works, then does'nt that prove that astrology is not scientific. Science is based on theories right?
So what is astrology? Is it more than sun signs?
what are your best skill and talents?
