The Sopranos Finale tonight.

Post by CARLA »

I'm a huge fan of this show watched every episode since day one. I will miss it greatly, just as I miss "Six Feet Under".

The characters in the Sopranos are just amazing what a cast. Will Tony die tonight?? I hope not, but you never know. If your a fan like me tonight will be bittersweet. :(

HBO has the best shows on TV.

One of my absolute favourites too, Carla. I lost track a while back and intend to hire each series, starting from the very beginning, and enjoy it all over again !!!!

Right CARLA, the Sopranos will be missed. :( It seemed they had like only 6 or 7 episodes for the new seasons, then took the rest of the year off. Year after year. What's up with that? Tony has to get whacked, after all he's a "killer", & killer's should not finish first! That would not be sending out a good message to the general public. We'll see tonight!!! :-2

I don't know I would like to see Tony make it, sure he is a killer but I like him he has a heart. ;) I hope he and Paulie survive and Phil and his group all "Swim with the Fish" tonight.

I will be watching the new show on right after that "John from Cincinnati" looks like it might be interesting. :-6

Yeah CARLA, I kinda like Tony also, he only whacked guys that needed it. :wah: Even Chris was a potential threat to Tony, & Tony for self preservation took care of that.:(

Tony Soprano or your Uncle Tony?:-3

A customer of mine buys the seasons on dvd's, and lends them to me after he watches them. Unfortunately, I'll know the outcome before I get to see the final episode. It was not a show I expected to get hooked on.

I am sick to my stomach... dont have HBO to watch the final episode. I loved it. I grew up around many of those characters. But Six Feet Under affected me deeply. Ill rent the whole 8th series when it comes out on DVDs

I'll assume that those who haven't yet seen it know better than to read here and risk spoilers, so here I go.

I, like many others apparently, thought the cable had gone. My missus and I were sitting there strung like violins, and then...black.

Gutsy. You're a gutsy punk, David Chase.

I'm still digesting it, but since a few minutes have gone by now I have started to think that this was a cruel but correct ending. What other ending is possible that won't feel either forced and over-the-top (guns blazing, everyone in the cast dies) or expected (Tony and at least a portion of his family end up in some sleepy midwest suburb, hiding out in the program; this is what I expected anyway)? Instead, Chase opts to dodge both bullets. He gives us all the suspense we can handle and then some, then completely thwarts our expectations. And in doing so he tells us two things:

The more things change, the more they remain the same...

...and the journey really is the destination.

I think it's probably brilliant. I'm sort of still howling for blood, but I'll get over it. David Chase has told us the story he wanted to tell. Or perhaps only the first part of it.

Yes I felt exactly the same, still feel the sting of the ending.:-2 I sat here thinking what my cable went out. Then I understood.

Do you suppose maybe, it was Tony's cable that went out?

After thinking about the ending which was perfect I understood.

I no more wanted to see Tony's entire family whacked, or were they?? Maybe Meadow took a bullet for Daddy?? Maybe the guy at the counter who went to the restroom killed them, maybe?? Or the guy at the table who came in after AJ??

I was so tense those last few minutes the suspense was killing me, then BAM black sceen no sound.
