Post by Mustang »

My wife has been buying avocados and trying to get me to eat them. I don't care for them.

Do you like or hate them?

How would you fix them to comsume them? Plain? In salads? On sandwiches?

Maybe some useful suggestions would help me get them passed my lips.

Yes I've tried it, just don't like it. I see she bought another one because she likes it but I'm not going to try it again. :-3 But knowing my wife, she'll offer me some. :wah:

I bought a papaya and mango which she didn't like. Maybe I should offer her more of them? :D

I love avocados. I think perhaps it is an acquired taste.

Try mashing a ripe one with mayonnaise, salt and pepper, and making a sandwich of just the mixture. Next time maybe add some garlic salt, onion powder.......keep it simple......this is how I started eating them as a child (I loved it) and I only wanted them that mashed, we would just fill a half piece of White bread and fold it over.:-4

I love them any way now.........My grandparents had a tree that always seemed to have them, when my folks were low on cash we ate alot of them. They have always been pricey but today you can get then at better prices and year round.:-4

Yes, a real dilemma here, what I would suggest is that you get some beef tomoatoes, some fresh basil leaf, some olive oil, some salt, some lemon, and cracked black pepper and make yourself a caprese salad with the avocados.

I eat them with lemon juice. Love 'em.

I had a huge craving for some earlier today. I might have to jog to the store and pick some up now. :)

I just decided two years ago that I loved them. I always refused to try them before. I like them plain with salt and pepper and I eat them out of the shell with a spoon. Walmart sometimes has them 10 for $10 and I'll buy about 20 at a time. They last me about two weeks.

Give them another chance. :)

This works with avacado's as well.

If you're a Thanksgiving dinner, but you don't like the stuffing or the cranberry sauce or anything else, just pretend like you're eating it, but instead, put it all in your lap and form it into a big mushy ball. Then, later, when you're out back having cigars with the boys, let out a big fake cough and throw the ball to the ground. Then say, "Boy, these are good cigars!"

Thanks for all the suggestions! :)

She slipped some sliced avocado on my sandwich yesterday and I thought it was like a soft cheese on it. Not too bad that way. I guess it's an acquired taste and it might grow on me on day.

You might want to have them avacados checked. If she is "slipping" them into your food then I would be concerned.

Isn't it funny though, how ones takes buds change over the years? Things you wouldn't consume as a child, are now appealing to eat....like, spinach.
