GOD help Me!!!

I need it, as my wife quit "smoking" going on "two weeks" tomorrow!!! She is having exceptionally strong withdrawal affects on her body & mind!!! She is very jittery, very nervous, very tired, easilly excitable, and always thinking about having a smoke. How long does it take for the nicatine to cleanse/disapate? :wah: She wants to do it cold turkey, no patch, no gum, no lozenge! Maybe good for her, but bad for me! :D She only wants that one more!

(I've never smoked in my life, so I don't know how it feels, I can only imagine what she is going through!)

oo sorry to say this but it does take a while, though it should be quicker going cold turkey as your not weaning yourself off it though it is harder that way.

I found eating when i needed to smoke helped, though you can put on alot of weight that way, id suggest eating fruit when the urge comes, because an urge only lasts a few minutes then if not thought about it goes away.

Its a case of keeping yourself occupied!

But congratulate her 2 weeks is very good! Tell her to keep up the good work!

Congratulations to your wife! I found that 'loads' of exercise helped - it helps to get rid of the stress and also makes you feel healthier still , thus backing up the decision to give up. :-4

Not long, hours perhaps. The psychological effects persist far longer. Buy her some tobacco, preferably not of good quality, and give it to her. Say that if she smokes any of it, just one, it will kill her. You never know, that may help.

Congrats to your wife!!

It took me about 3 weeks.

I chewed a lot of gum lol
I have left because of immature people that cannot accept people for who they are.

It's not nice to upset others.

This place isn't stricked enough.

Mods please ban me for good.

Thank you.

I got pregnant, found it easy that way but the past month have been gasping to smoke again. I went to see my doctor today about it as I'm worried that I'll start again as the craving is that bad I am eating loads of chocolate or Hob Knob bars. He gave me a prescription for a new drug out that has had great success so he says. I am going to pick it up tomorrow once I've read up more about it. It is meant to make you feel sick if you smell smoke, same as when I were pregnant so if it does that will definately help me steer clear.

Good luck to your wife. X

This is my third attempt at quitting. I haven't smoked since new years day (2007) .

It is hard if you keep thinking you are depriving yourself of something good. This time i am just congratulating myself on ...

Fighting nicotine dependancy

Not smelling like an old ashtray

The house not smelling horrible

Enjoying the taste of food

Saving money...a LOT of money as I smoked 30 a day

Extending my life (hopefuly)

Having nice white teethI do chew a lot of nicotine gum.....still.....but as I smoked for 45 years I guess it's OK and I'm using less and less.

changing routine helps and keeping occupied....I bought a PS2...it kept me occupied in the early days when it was quite hard.

Good luck to you both ....I'm sure she'll be fine. :)

Seriously......good for your wife for quitting. It's going to take time, that's for sure. Nice to hear you are behind her and supporting her to stop smoking!

Thanks all for your well wishes, she's still batteling those urges!!!:)

As far as working it off, she used to smoke "2+ packs a day". So I might have been able to keep up with the first pack, but trying to keep up with "second" pack surely would have killed me! :D :p

Thanks WW & all, as I mentioned earlier, I've never smoked in my life, so I can only imagine how hard it really must be!

(Years ago I tried it once for 3 days, while driving in my convertable with the top down to try to look cool. But all I did was drop ashes on my pants leg & burned a hole in the pants as well as burn my leg! So I quit there & then!) :D :wah:
