I noticed alot of people call non-forum friends 'Real Life' friends (I just used the term myself in another thread). Does this mean that our friendships here are not real life? :-1 :-1

:-4 Yeah I know Pinks - the friendships here are so so strong and sincere. It would be nice if we could come up with a different term.

Any ideas.....:-4 :-4

You've made a good point my fine feathered Real Friend!!

I never thought of it...actually...I consider people on FG my sweet, true and very real friends...my brother thinks I'm wackko...because I trust people in the cyber world....but I do...it's strange how you can judge characters by the way they communicate over the internet...but ya do!!--At least I do!!

I look forward to seeing my friends here at the garden every day!!:-6

I love it here. It is my first experience of true friendship across hundreds and thousands of miles. People are so genuine - you can share anything, no one is ever judging only ever caring and advicing. :-4 :-4

Also, when I'm having my wacky pheasy moments (which I admit are fairly regular) - I can't see your eyes rolling and you saying to yourself - OMG there she goes again. :wah:

I consider my friends here to be 'real life' friends too.

The thing that amazes me is that I have become friends with people that I had no chance at all of meeting in any other way, people from completely different backgrounds/lifestyles.

since I've been here I've spoken to people all over the world, from different religions, different races etc and it's just wonderful.

Some of my prejudices and fears have been shot to peices too and that can only be a good thing.

Who would have thought that one day I would be sat in a house with people who were strangers to me a few months before, having my tarot cards read by a Canadian, whilst a witch and a mad Scotswoman were cackling away at the other end of the room!! And it was brilliant!!

I don't consider my FG friends to be any different from my RL friends. Friends are friends no matter how you've met. (Does that make sense?)

You all know that I've only been here for about a month but I really must say that you've all made me feel so, so welcome.

The garden is the only place I know I can come and say anything and I know no-one will judge me or laugh at me for feeling a certain way. The love and kindness that people here have for each other just blows me away.

I consider you all some of the nicest people that I've not yet met (in person)

Thank you all so much for letting me just be me:) :-4 :-4

I love coming on here. Because i can say what is on my mind or have an opinion and i am not berated or judged. To me that IS a friend. Sometimes it is better than talking to real friends. I havent been on here long, but coming on here and reading your posts and talking with you all is something i really look forward to day to day.

Take care.

Glad you are here, along with everyone else ...it takes happy/nice people to make the garden a great place to come to, and imo it's full of them nowadays!!:-4

I agree with you 100%. I love and value the people that I've met in the FG. I think people who use the internet try to distinguish between their "real life" friends that they met personally as opposed to friends that they chat with and have not met in person. Many time people use the initials "rl" real life friends.

I try to be careful about not giving out too much info, because you never know who is watching, but I'm so honest at times, I forget and write some very personal info. Oh well.

I have given my address to people that I trust. I've never met them, but do trust them and their character. I bet if I asked them to travel to New Jersey to help me, they would. I know that I would help others here with whatever they needed.

I am probably the culprit for you posting this thread, I am the worlds worst for referring to RL this and that. For me it's just an term used for non cyber friends.

How many of you have actually eyeballed one another, and how did it go? Did you find them as they described themselves, or were they guilding the lily? I used to have penfriends all over the world, so I guess a forum is a natural follow-up. I personally have never made myself out to be something I'm not.

Actually I found everyone just as I expected, kind of like going to a reunion, having history all be it just on line, but people here know more about me, than some really good friends. I have and never would lie, what you see is what you get, and I am glad to say the people I have meet are exactly the same. :-4

You wouldn't think much of what you'd get with me, then! I've got just about the same amount of hair as a latter day Sean Connery, four eyes (glasses) hearing aids to match and seven tablets a day to keep me alive - diabetes, so I'm no catch, and yet despite all this, I've been happily married for nearly thirty years and managed to increase the population of the earth by one.
