stolen mail

Post by lady cop »

at this festive time of year the post office is overwhelmed. but there's another problem. stolen packages. the thieves are watching mailboxes for packages/presents even more than usual. of course there are PO boxes for safety, and other shippers besides the mail, but many people still use the mailbox outside. it has no security. i am bringing this up because i just discovered that a rather expensive gift i bought my son has been stolen from my mailbox. i have tracked it, and it's definate. so i wanted to remind everyone to perhaps use a little extra caution.

It's the mailmen that steal the mail/parcels in Britain, not the neighbours!

Gosh LC that sucks. I am so sorry that happened to you...I hope the fool who stole it is so burdened with guilt that they never actually wind up wearing it. I hope everytime they look at the shirt they cringe w/ shame. Just a thought....if the shirt wasn't mail order, could you go to the store you bought it from and ask them to watch for people trying to return w/out a receipt???? But I guess that wouldn't really be realistic....I dunno.... sigh..........

... and you know how sometimes you go to the drive up mail box (or any of the big blue boxes) and they are so full your letter doesn't "DROP?"

DON"T leave it there!!!! I've always been wary of this and just the other day I got proof... I saw not once but twice in two different locations, one homeless person and one miscreant, diggin in the boxes.... :O

yes, I called on 'em!

I'm glad to hear your sitch turned out okay LC!

It would also be a good idea to be sure the Mailman is not leaving your packages with a neighbor. This has happened to me, I had a mailman who would leave packages that wouldn't fit in the postal box outside the apartment building with a neighbor and on a couple of occassions he left a large package out side my door and let my neighbor sign for it. That all ended one day when an order of books was left out side on top of the mailboxes and not even on the section were my slot is. I called the postal master and so did my landlady and that was the end of that from now on if I get a package that doesn't fit in the box he leaves a pickup slip.
