I was curious about what is considered a "healthy" number of times to do the deed when you are in a long term relationship. What about dry spells, are they really normal?

When I was married....every night and never dry spells, except when he wasn't home...but he was a truck driver, so saying every night was only 3 times a week on the weekends while he was home...

If I have my way...Every stinkin' night 2 times a night and only dry spells when I'm too tired...:-4

Well, at least until I'm 85 or so....

no, not necessarily imo. I hear of both men and women that aren't as active. It depends on alot of different aspects of the relationship really...

Twice a day is OK if it doesn't get boring - at which time you will know, & it's time for a "dry spell" - I only mention this figure since there ought to be a balance between what's desirable, and the hours in a day. It depends on lots of things, really, IMO - each party's needs, desires, and capabilities (not simply in *that*, there are far more things in life to be done) not least. Less frequently isn't exactly a sign of an issue. It's like blood pressure, it's all according to what's healthy for the individual, in this case, the individual relationship. Are you unhappy when the amount of sex you're having? Is your partner? If you're both satisfied, it doesn't really matter how often it is.

As for me, we don't put pressure on how much sex is good or not, we let it happen as it happens. That might mean three times in one day, that might mean 3 times in one week, it all depends. Remember, you don't have to have actual sex in order to be sexually active with your partner. I like to do random bj's to surprise him.... since he loves that just as much as sex. Sometimes my boyfriend and I have a purposeful dry spell with no sex to build excitement.

Anyway... every couple is different. You can't really pin point what's healthy or not. It's all about whether or not you're happy. If you don't think you're having enough sex, how about initiating it more??
