Girl shot dead is named by police.

At the risk of going over old ground, this in the paper today:

"A twelve-year-old girl died yesterday after being shot in the head with a high-velocity weapon in the living room of her home.

Kamilah: a diligent student who spent hours in the local library

Kamilah Peniston was seen being cradled in the arms of her brother as he screamed for help outside their council house.

She was seen to have a gunshot wound to her forehead as neighbours arrived and an ambulance was called.

Kamilah was admitted to hospital in a critical condition at around 7.30pm on Monday, but died 13 hours later.

A 16-year-old was arrested and is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder as ballistics experts examine the weapon.

The shooting happened in a run-down area of Manchester's Gorton district not normally associated with gun crime"

The 16 y.o. was her brother. First impressions make me feel "poor bugger".

I'm not clear on whether the 16 y.o. arrested was her brother, as I first heard - however, a 16 y.o. has been charged with murder, so it does not seem to be an

accidental death.
