I Got the call again!!!

Post by cars »

It never seems to fail. :wah: I keep getting called for Jury Duty over & over again like clockwork every 18 months! (Minimum time between callings)

Why don't they call on/pick on someone else, someone who has not already been called/picked on 19 times already, & served 9 of those times! Luckily for me I keep each notice they sent me. Cause once they called me & it was only "12" months since last time, & I told them of their error & I was excused. The first 3 or 4 times I was called, it was exciting & new, but after that, it just got redundant & also very boring! (If you're not selected to be on a Jury, you are leagally held there in court from 8:30am to 5:00pm)

So do you get called for Jury Duty often? Or even ever at all?:-2 (And If you do, do you like Jury Duty?)

I've never been called on.

I would like to see what its like though.
The poolhall's a great equalizer. In the poolhall, nobody cares how old you are, how young you are, what color your skin is or how much money you've got in your pocket... It's about how you move. I remember this kid once who could move around a pool table like nobody had ever seen. Hour after hour, rack after rack, his shots just went in. The cue was part of his arm and the balls had eyes. And the thing that made him so good was... He thought he could never miss. I know, 'cause that kid was me.

Once - I said "sorry, it's not convenient right now" and they said "here, take this lifetime exemption"!

Now I'm free to do it I'd love to but can't :-(

I have been called many times for Jury Duty but have only served once. A jury trial for a 75 year old woman that had stolen a carton of ciggs from K Mart. We waited until we got our Pizza Lunch and then found the ole broad guilty. Can you believe a jury trial for that?

I have never been called, would like to just to see what it is like. I have a friend that just served a few weeks ago. He missed 3 days of work due to Jury duty...from what I heard, I'd rather be at work:driving:

I wish you could tell them you had been arrested for some petty stupid crime 30 years ago under the age of 21. They would never call you again. That is how I get out of it. The stupid arrest when I was 18 gets me off every time....the arrest never shows up now and it is off my record.......I'm 51 now.

I have been called for local jury duty, but didnt have to serve, one of the questions they asked were "Do you have bumper stickers on your car"

"Do you belong to any religious organizations, churches, mail offerings etc"

I said yes I do, and they said 'YOUR EXCUSED"

Then I was served for Federal Court in DETROIT MICHIGAN yeah mine as well just mug myself and stab myself, my ex-husband we were married at the time,

took me and a doctor stood up and stated his proffestion was needed more than here, he had to serve, and I stood up and said I have a three year old and no one to watch him and the judge snotily state "Well, who is watching him now, and I said snotily back" Me Mum is, and she had to miss work to do it, so if you choose me to serve I will have to bring him, but I cant guarantee that he will sit still" he said "Your Excused"

I was called about 5 years ago. Served on a jury of a murder trial. We found the gang banger guilty. Of course there was a liberal woman on the jury that wanted to find him not guilty because she said she didn't want one mistake to ruin his life. Well it ruined someone else's life when he shot him seven times.

Ah yes, the old criminal trick.:wah: After the about the 10th time I was called, I seriously considered just not showing up, and see what happened. What were they going to do to me, not call me any more! But on the day I was supposed to show up, I reconsidered, & did go, & I'm glad I did. As it turned out, I was complaining to my BIL, who was called about he thinks only 11 times. And on the last time he was called, he was going to on a be pre-paid vacation on the day he was scheduled to go. So he called the court & told them that fact, & they said too bad, that he had to show up. Well he said *(*&^%$ them, & went on his vacation & had a good time. However, when he returned home it was not so good. There was a notice tacked on his front door saying the police had a warrant for his arrest for contempt of court!

So he called the court & asked what he had to do to fix things. He had to & "did", pay a "$5000" fine!!! :( (He made a very costly mistake!!!)

Ah the joys of Jury service! I've been called up three times and loved every time. I personally find it really interesting and although the waits can be a pain, you still gets lots of free food and drinks as compensation. Funny though that they always end up calling someone who has been before, than someone that doesn't.
