Randall's posted a few times this last couple of weeks, they're hidden away but wonderful posts. He still has a bee in his bonnet about the taxman.

Nobody is ever going to move you from your idee fixe, Spot, you pathetic little man.

But for anyone else here, I am going to state just once. I am not now, nor ever have been any kind of disciple of any member of this forum or any other forum.

And these days I'm pretty sick of all the forums. And don't really give a damn any more. Life off line is better.

Grow up, all of you.

I don't know you Skittles. Enjoy your geekery. You caught my post as I was editing, but I've reposted it as it was. I wanted to add a few things.

I think I was probably just naive, but when I first joined ForumGarden it did seem to be a fun, sparky place. It was certainly more diverse than it is at the moment. It was only later I became aware of all the undercurrents. I got dragged into some ongoing power struggles, ancient battles not my own (often from old forums where the participants had long honed their brawling skills). I'll rephrase that and take full responsibility. I allowed myself to be dragged in. Later, these old feuds etc sprouted new dimensions of nastiness.

You support someone on one thing, you're suddenly seen as supporting them on everything. So, one becomes tribalised. It's playground games that nobody wins. A plague on all their houses.

There are creatures who apparently thrive in cesspools, and watching the action can be entertaining for spectators, BUT the danger is that we are all eventually likely to get pulled in, or just fall in. At any rate we won't come up smelling of roses. Maybe, Skittles, you don't mind that. I do mind.

And that's my last word.

Bravo AussiePam, you've got the whole thing in a nutshell, I've never seen the problem better described. That's a magnificent couple of posts. There's not a word in them that I'd disagree with and I wish I'd managed to put it so clearly myself. You over-emphasise "old forums", mistaking subsequent spill-over for the actual origin here, but that's a minor matter and it may even be technically correct in one instance long gone.

As for these trivial rare flare-ups the responsibility is all down to cause and effect. Did Abbeypants post her cya-list provocatively, given that this thread had appeared and provided the opportunity? Maybe she didn't. Maybe the moon's made of blue cheese too. Maybe the modified "I miss them posting here" instead of "I miss" boils down to "I wish it was 2006 again", I can't see how else any forum could rewind to a prior state.

We were, it seems longer than a year to me, the day we set out for London last year was a year to the day I left my abusive ex husband, it was also a huge acheivement for me to drive that distance for the first time ever.

Word for word exactly what it says, there's nothing obscure about it. I left out a name "in one instance long gone" so as not to aggravate an ancient sore, is that what you're asking about?

I've just been wading through this thread, and it's really upsetting. What started as an innocent question has sunk into a real nasty bit of back-biting. What's the matter with you people? I thought FG was supposed to be a friendly place, but if you want to carry on in this manner, for goodness sake go somewhere else to do all your bitching and leave the rest of us to have a pleasant time.

I didn't see myself in the list, so no-ones missed me - and judging by what is going on, maybe I should be thankful.

I hope that I can find a more friendly thread - they can't all be scratching each others eyes out surely?

Pinky;586811 wrote: Even if they choose to go, I still miss the diversity of posters that we used to have. This may sound snarky, but even though I still love FG and 99% of the people here, I don't find much here that doesn't end up the same way these days. I can almost bet on how threads will turn out. I see the same type of thread over and over and I get bored of it...I know if I feel that way I should post my own, but I seem to lack motivation. I know whatever I say will inevitably turn into a private convo between people who have no interest in what I post anyway, so I rarely bother anymore.

I'm well aware that I sound like a total killjoy...anyone who knows me will know that's not my way at all. I've always been about the fun side of things, but when you suddenly find that everyone has been doing your job for you, what else is there for you to do? I feel redundant here.

You'll never be that!

As a counterpoint to all of the "it's all changed round here" posts, I was surprised to come across this :-

David wrote: It doesn't always work that way. In theory you're right. In reality, here in The Garden just getting to know someone isn't enough for alot of people. This is a great place but it's been a rough road since my first day and a few are still gunning for me! I had to adjust to the Gardeners, not the other way around. It's taken David awhile to grasp that.

A post from within a year of the board starting complaining about the "Grandad" right claimed by long serving members and the stick given to "newbies" by the "bitches who run the place". I'm not sure anything changes :-3

I suppose I'm just in a snarky mood and a bit bored. It's no-one else, it's just me.

I'm with you there - page after page of Word games do nothing for me but it's just a quiet patch. Just to see who's been on I went into the Top Posters page and noticed Spot had made the listing with 5 posts - despite being away all day!

I joined the same time as you did Pinks! What does that say about the gob on you?.....:wah: Check the relative post counts! I've got to say, I feel more chilled out here, perhaps it's because there's other stuff to do when the shenanigans are going on! It's easy for me to go in the arcade, or faff around in the music threads, whereas on other forums I've been at, I would probably have waded in amongst the combatants.. I'm quite pleased with myself, that I seem to be growing up a bit. Really, the only thing that does upset me here, is when nice people just seem to give up, and leave!

Just cos I'm quiet, doesn't mean you can walk all over me. If you upset me, I'll take you outside and kick your arse!

Actually Jimbo you're right although you wrote this a bit tongue in cheek....:)

It's sad really, because I thought there were more people that would miss us/me here, but the attitude has been "if you want to talk to us move 'here' "

Must say I feel like Pinky sometimes....a bit 'redundant'.

Oh well...I've got a fab day ahead...off to London......must dash and get the train now.
