I was working in London way back in 1974-ish and our section supervisor recommended a horse called Morston. I think it was a 25-1 outsider or something and we all laughed at him (but put a couple of bob on to cover ourselves of course!) We listened on an old radio at work in the afternoon and didn`t hear the horse even mentioned at all until the closing seconds when the radio announcer said, to rapturous cheers from the employees in my office, `and Morston comes through at the end to win it!` We couldn`t believe it as we`d all had small bets on it!
Curiously we later found out that the Sun newspaper had `accidentally`printed the name of that horse, and only that horse, in block letters, which hardened gamblers had taken to be a coded message and got a bet on it too. We were just pleased to win a few quid in the most unlikely of circumstances!
