Roses are red

Violets are blue

You thought this was going to rhyme didn't you?

That's what you get for thinking.

La rose, l'est foutue

La violette, é schlingue

Mate-moi ce poème

J'suis carrément dingue

I should have said foutue instead of rouge (red)..

The rose is shot

The violet stinks

Look at this verse

I've totally lost it

If those sprouts are of the brussels variety, I LOVE them, Pinky. And cabbage too. Why do these great vegies get a bad press. I mean, if you were waxing lyrical about tripe - I might hafta join you in the barfarium.

Tater Tazz - g'day!! I just read your profile and see you're into skating and skiing. Me too. BIG TIME!!! Where do you ski?

Carrots are orange

Broccoli's green

But there's nothing to match

A big juicy bean

I hope you get to go again soon, Tater. Sitting by the fire is great - after a hard day ploughing the slopes :sneaky: , with a ski instructor in one hand and a cocktail in the other.. We get east coast type dampish snow here in Oz at times too. One foot in a soft drift, the other skidding on ice. Makes for some interesting descents. Are you down hill or cross country?

Down hill. Growing up with four brothers, you do stuff they like. I can also fix a car in a pinch. I am grateful for them showing me all these things. I like snowmobiles also. I am really crazy on them. But, I must say, those ski instructers are cuties!

On the subject of skiing

Is it completely neurotic to worry about avalanches?

I would love to ski, but I'm worried about avalanches.

I'm hoping at least areas designated for skiing have triggered avalanches so as to minimize the risk...

As for skiing at places otherwise, I can actually say I will never do that.

I do downhill skiing too, Tater. Most avalanches seem to be in back country, outside the normal ski area, patrolled boundaries where most skiers, and especially inexperienced ones, would not go anyway.

That came in while I was posting. I've heard them triggering mini avalanches in Australian ski fields, K.Snyder - kinda weird hearing a big boom. Normal ski areas are checked each morning by ski safety patrol - before the slopes are opened, and potentially dangerous areas are closed off or dealt with.

Very much in short, it's Japanese poetry with three lines. The first line usually has five syllables, the second line seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables.

It doesn't rhyme.

The white moon comes in

on icy silver moth wings

and sleeps in the sky

Ok, that was cheesy but there's my example. ;)

There was a young man from St. Maarten

Who saved all his odors from faartin.

If it passed through his crack

It went straight in a sack

aand mistakes were all kept in a caarton.

Dear aspiring writers and poets,

randall has had a start of a poem rattling around in his his skull for decades hoping that one night I might dream of a end to it.

Remember I am a pessimist.

Perhaps the better endowed of you can either complete it or add another few lines

Here it is

"I had dreams

and had the means,

to make those dream come true.

But......................"

Roughly, after getting married I was no longer in control of my life and THAT made my dreams go awry - as a writing instructor (author Helen McGregor told me it would).

Many people at sea are promising writers but once they marry and go ashore all that vanishes.

Foreigners say they find English hard to learn,

I am not surprised when they come face to face with this

"Your Bob owes our Bob a bob, and if your Bob doesn't give our Bob the bob the your Bob owes our Bob, then our Bob is going to give your Bob a bob on the nose."

God Bless All

randall

:) :) :)

QUESTION - What on earth is a bob.???
