Microsoft IE Losing Edge

Post by anastrophe »

i've tried firefox but the tab behavior and overall behavior just frustrated me. i'm very happy with MyIE2 (a 'shell' around IE that gives it tabs and many other nifty features) and likely won't be changing any time soon. MyIE2 is now called Maxthon, and can be downloaded here - http://www.maxthon.com .

tabbed browsing really is amazing. it can streamline using the web to a significant degree. right now i have more than 40 tabs open and can bounce from site to site with the greatest of ease.

by the way - don't be lulled into complacency about other browsers. nothing is invulnerable (except maybe qmail and djbdns, but you need to be a server geek like me to appreciate them!).

I'm using firefox to view this just now. The tabbed browsing is great.Much faster than windows IE and I like the security features-I have it set ask about all cookies. It's amazing how many would be placed if I let them quite a few seem designed to track my browsingactivities, I presume for marketing purposes.

What I find irritating is sites that only work with windows IE, If they used international web protiocols all browsers would work. There are a few I need for work otherwise i would not use IE at all.

I have not yet tried any of the alternatives to outlook express mainly through laziness.

I also use star office in prevference to office, apart from being a fractionof the price it is a lot more versatile. It too has an e-mail set up which i have not yet tried.

Adaware is free and works very well.

People who code like this should be spanked. It's going

to get worse, though, I thinkl- Microsoft stuff is ingrained in the school

system, and people who come out know only that (if they've actually managed to pick up anything at all).

Curses and there's me thinking you would be impressed by my perspicacity. I need the database which was not in Open office or I would be using that.
