Unbelievable. If this goes un-challenged by the authorities, then I'll be very disappointed.

An extremist Islamic cleric based in Britain said yesterday that he would support hostage-taking at British schools if carried out by terrorists with a just cause.
Omar Bakri Mohammed, the spiritual leader of the extremist sect al-Muhajiroun, said that holding women and children hostage would be a reasonable course of action for a Muslim who has suffered under British rule.

The father of seven came to Britain in 1985 after being deported from Saudi Arabia because of his membership of a banned group. He has since been given leave by the Home Office to remain in Britain for five years but the Government is reviewing his status.
If you curb people's rights to political freedom it will manifest itself in either political or religious extremism. 14 out of the eighteen terrorists involved in 911 were saudi nationals, it was more about saudi politics and anerican support for them than anything else iraq had nothing to do with it. GW seems to have forgotten what the war against terror is supposed to be about Iraq is a distraction. You can't fight terrorism with conventional armies but its now gone beyond politics to the politics of hate.
We live in a free country and he can say what he likes, although we do have laws against incitement to violence. Don't kid yourself that he speaks for all muslims in britain, they don't want those kind of nutters because they know they will get tarred with the same brush if they are not careful.

And that just cause can be any act of non-muslims. Muslim suffered under British rule is the cause this cleric has advanced for justifying taking hostage women and children in UK. What was the cause of killing children in Beslam.? These muslim terrorists kill innocent people and then justify it. Islamic terrorism has spread to every corner of the world. The global alliance against terrorism is not working due to selective approach of USA and UK. They only have lip sympathy for innocent Indians being killed by muslim terrorists from across the border. Also they have made Pakistan as their partner in this alliance. How can you fight terrorism with one of them in your group?

Hi Suresh,
It's a very unfortunate situation when events like this take place - and especially when it does not get the attention it needs. We've been made to believe that President Musharraf is more of a moderate - and maybe the best hope of moderating the jihadist elements in his country? Do you think this is true?

No it is not true. Partition of India was a result of hate. All rulers in Pakistan have build up their hold on the country by using this hate. No ruler has tried to moderate jehadi elements in Pakistan, and President Musharraf is no exception. Muslim clerics are also having an equally srong hold on the people. Whenever Musharraf has said something or has acted against the clerics or jehadi groups, it is only to show to the world that he is a moderate. Indian Prime minsters, even to the annoyance of Indian people, have gone out of the way to accomodate Pakistan rulers but their attitude continues to be negative. Discussions between Pakistan and India are on but so far these discussions have not inspired confidence of people.
