Complicated or is it ?

Post by buttercup »

My friends brother has just announced he got engaged yesterday (valentine's day) my friend does not like the girl & has good reason too. She does love her brother, the thought of this girl being part of the family is not a high point for her. Anyone else in the same situation & how do you handle it? My friend does not want to be a fake & pretend to be happy for him, neither does she want to say anything hurtful or derogative about the girl as she doesent want to hurt him.

My advise would be, he's a big boy and he needs to learn by himself, IME when people have voiced their opinions they have been pushed out by that person as they think they are sticking their noses in when advise hasn't been requested.

At the end of the day, he most be very happy with the girl and that is the most important thing, a relationship is a two person thing, not three (Unless your lucky):sneaky:

I think the issue here is she has to say congratulations to them & does not want to come across as horrible by not being really happy for them but neither does she want to do the big smiles & hug, pat on the back thing as that would be fake.

My best answer was to offer a glass of wine, not much of a help eh

Oh No, she can't offer or go near the wine, one glass will lead to another, then another, another......you getting the picture, she'll start telling the girl a few home truths, that she's not good enough for her brother:-5 :wah:

No, dont worry Suz, she's not the hysterical blow everything out of proportion drama queen type after a few glasses of wine, she would avoid a confrontation at all costs.
