Anyone watching this? I wasnt sure when i saw the previews but its bloody fantastic! so tongue in cheek and witty..and daniel is some very nice totty :rolleyes:

Daniel is a jerk! I watch it because there's absolutely nothing else on then, but for all the hype it got it's not really very funny imo!

For instance, what kind of idiot would wear a butterfly dress to work on Halloween, especially when one works in the fashion industry? It would be obvious to anyone with more braincells than a gnat that this simple wouldn't be done! :-5

not seen a complete show yet, always forget when it's on... I hear talk that it's pretty good though, may have to pay attention and actually watch it.

Lol! Well, not really, because the question was "Is anyone watching this?"

And so the answer is "yes" I watch it. I can't afford to do anything else right now & tv is cheap. :rolleyes:

But in the advertising blurb they said it really takes off in week 3. So I watched for 3weeks and its still dreary! Ugly Betty is supposed to be bright but a plain Jane. Well its obvious that - once they take those dreadful braces off and style her hair - she's going to be gorgeous! Very much a cross between Cinderella and the Ugly Duckling stories - but not as good. :p

She gets the chance to date a lawyer/ accountant but turns him down for the geek - who also happens to be a control freak!

She works in a fashion house but wears incredibly dorky clothes without the slightest effort to become fashionable.

There are actually a LOT of bad messages for women in this programme.

So far as I can see, they're telling me that it's not okay to be ugly - if I'm not a fashion model (and I'm not!) then I must be an ugly and worthless dork.

It's not good for me to look above my 'place' in life. A lawyer or accountant would be above me, I should settle for a man who is a control freak telling me what to do!

If you do look above you and try to date the boss' son he'll screw you, dump you and forget you - and he's more worried about his precious watch than a fellow human being. Daniel is the stereotypical rich boy's son who bed's and dump's every woman who crosses his path - bar Betty who's far too ugly for his taste. How shallow is he? People like this were outdated in the nineties and should no longer be used as a showcase for youngsters who often do believe what they see and will see his behaviour as being macho and cool not a user and abuser and scuzzbucket.

Sorry for the rant.

I like Betty's dad and would be interested to find out his history, although again I don't see how he could have claimed on his health insurance until now, when according to his records he's 117 years old!

It's just badly thought out and unresearched fluff really, isn't it?

I'll have to stop watching it, the sexism is rotting my brain! :-5
