Living in another country

If you could live in another country, where would you choose to go?

I travel around quite a bit, but for the past six months I have been living in Egypt.

It's very different to where I grew up, lived and worked.

So, if you had a choice would you move to another country?

i would not want to live anywhere else but good old england, but i liked america a lot, every one is either very nice or er not, they are really slim and fit or er they are like me , the thing that i found hard was the sense of humour difference , some of them i had a really good laugh with but most just found me very childish and just a tad annoying ,

I quite like my own country, but most of the other European countries are pretty cool, though Spain, Italy, and Greece are a bit too hot for me. I would like to see what America was like, and have a good bit of a stay there, maybe I will some day, apart from that, dunno really, wouldn't unless I had to, but there would always be something interesting about any country. Iraq though, not likely.

now I don't want to bring the wrath of the forum on my head its just my opinion that the England I knew up to the 80's is not the same place now, sorry but its gone down the pan, so if I had the money i would up sticks like my sister did and live on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey where I go twice a year for holidays the weather is very clement compared with ours, and the cost of living is well below the vicious taxation endured by us over here , jmb

I would say, either Italy, Greece or Switzerland! I have been to Italy and loved it! Been to Switzerland and thought it was amazing! Never been to Greece, but I would still like to visit!

Yes, would love to. I fancy living in Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the US. What stops me? Family - I'd miss them too much but I may in the future try to have extended holidays in these places.

I was going to say similiar. Born and bred in London, all of my family are from the England yet it doesn't seem like England anymore so I'd move anywhere there are actually some English people left!

I dream about living in Ireland, England, Scotland, Italy, and France. Id like to be able to move about from country to country the way you fortunate people in Europe do. It is an unrealistic notion as it would require lots of $$$$

England was my first trip that was really out of the US. With the exception of Canada and the carribean. I have a dear friend who has been living in Greece for years. I have been invited many times. Id like to try to make it this year as she is having a baby, after trying for at least 10 years.

I have traveled a good part of the world and for the past 15 years have spent 5 to 6 months of each year in New Zealand and the rest of the year in California. I like many different places for different reasons and would have a hard time picking one place to stay on a permanent basis. At some point in the future, I will have to make that decision though, due to aging and just not be up to long plane trips any longer. It would probably be the U.S.

My daughter's moving to Damascus in a few months which has excited various of her relatives. I don't think I'd cope with that as well as she's likely to. Were I to emigrate for any prolonged period it might be to Iceland (or, failing that, the Hebrides) just for the weather and the longer summer days.

I seem to have got about a bit!!

I've worked in Ireland, England, Germany, Austria, France, Norway and the USA. In the US, I was looked on as a novelty (sometimes unwelcome) as I tend to say what I think no matter who may be listening.

But none of these places, with the exception of Ireland and Norway ever felt like home. So home is where I went.

Like Kathy Ellen, I love this country too much to ever leave for good.

Places I'd consider buying a little house for vacations? Okovongo Delta in Botswana, Aoba in Namibia, Perito Moreno in Argentina, several small Irish villages and El Triunfo in Baja California, Mexico.
