Poor Grumpaz! Ouch!
Poor Grumpaz! Ouch!
I'm chatting with Grumpaz right now. Remember that new horse she adopted? Well, last Monday, the horse pushed her as they were in the barn. She fell and broke her right hip! They were able to pin her femur and she'll probably come home and get back to us within a couple of weeks.
(They want her to spend time in a skilled nursing center...probably they need cheering up over there! She's been doing her best to cheer up everyone on her floor and in the therapy rooms...as they sit around with their "bags of golden liquid." She like to do "stand up," but she can't stand at the moment, so it's really SIT DOWN COMEDY!)
(Grumpaz laughed when I read that to her.)
I'll be in touch with her and I'll convey any good wishes you want me to send on.

The poolhall's a great equalizer. In the poolhall, nobody cares how old you are, how young you are, what color your skin is or how much money you've got in your pocket... It's about how you move. I remember this kid once who could move around a pool table like nobody had ever seen. Hour after hour, rack after rack, his shots just went in. The cue was part of his arm and the balls had eyes. And the thing that made him so good was... He thought he could never miss. I know, 'cause that kid was me.
Poor Grumpaz! Ouch!
Convey my best wishes for a speedy recovery... and to give her a
laugh, be sure and tell her my dad refers to most horses as
"Knotheads"!!

You know, I realize we all need a vacation from time to time but Grump it's time that you quit "horsing" around and get back here pronto! There's a certain royal court in a land far away that needs the guidance of its Queen. Hurry back! I can't fight off the peasants for long.

They have torches and pitchforks and everything. How is an unknightly squire such as myself supposed to ward off such a horde? There is no one to fight beside me. There is a rather large wooly dog running about the castle but I'm not quite sure how useful he is. Not even sure if he is housebroken.

Good news! I chatted with Grumpaz today and she's been moved to a skilled nursing facility, where they actually let you wear REAL CLOTHES and leave your room for meals and physical therapy!
Get ready now......(drum rollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll)
They also have a few computers! So...she's hoping to get on line and say "HEY" very soon!
I'm so happy to hear this!

Rappy you just crack me up. :wah: :wah:
Sooooo, here's the rest of the story.
I scooted out to the barn on a wet and chilly morning to put the horses in for their breakfast. All went well until I stepped out of MY horses stall (got to give him his good morning pet you know) and the new mare heard something that spooked her and she decided to come back out of her stall. Without thinking I took a step into the aisle and raised my hand to stop her. She, however, was hell bent on leaving the barn and heading back out to the paddock regardless of my poor little body standing in her way. So she just walks right into me, knocks me down and left. Didn't even say 'excuse me'.
So here I am laying in front of my horses open stall door thinking this isn't such a good thing especially if he decides to follow her out the door. It would mean he'd have to walk and/or stumble over my poor body.
I managed to drag myself away from the stall door far enough to slide it closed and then lay there praying that the mare didn't decide she wanted to finish her breakfast and come back in.
I manage to get to the other side of the aisle and close the gate to the paddock then propped myself up against the barn door and wondered what to do from there because I FORGOT TO TAKE MY CELL PHONE WITH ME!!!!
So I started yelling which made my dog, who was outside, bark like the devil and she finally woke Bill up and he came looking for me. All in all I was out there about 1 1/2 hours. When he got to the barn I told him I thought my hip was broke and to please go to the house...call 911...get me a cup of coffee and my cigarettes....not necessarily in that order.
The ambulance got there in good time and carted my poor broken self off to emergency where the verified what I thought. Tues night, the 9th, they operated and put pins in my hip. I guess that means I can set off the metal detectors at airports now.
One week in the hospital and they sent me to skilled nursing where they tortured my sore muscles till I could use a walker with some proficiency.
I came home this past Wed. and immediately missed my craftmatic hospital bed. Those things can be a lot of fun.
I will now have home therapy for a while. I go back to my Doc in 2 weeks for x-rays and am hoping I can put a little more than 1/3 bearing weight on my leg. Till then I guess I'm just gonna practice for Easter...you know...Hoppity Hop Hop, etc.
Thank you all for you good wishes. I have missed coming in here.
