Ok I have to vent this off cause this is just to pheckin stupid to be true.

Watching my american TV last nite and be good Gawd Damned if I didn't see a number of times this show advertised

"Family Plot"

You have to be kidding me, really truly seriously this push's TV too dam far in my opinion.

I have no clue what it is about nor am I about to find out other than it talked about a funeral of a small child in the advert.

Utterly horrific if you ask me!!

Sorry but that one has me choked.

I don't know what it's about either, and I have no intention and even less interest in finding out. This so-called "reality" TV is all garbage in my not-so-humble opinion. They need to re-name it. Something along the lines of "I have nothing better to do with an hour of my life, so I guess I'll kill off a few more brain cells with this mind-numbing crap TV."

i've seen a few episodes of family plots. it's not has horrific as you think. it's about the people who run the funeral home, not about the funerals per se. it's a weird family, the owner is a former prize fighter, he has several daughters who run the business with him, etc.

the "reality" tv show i will not tolerate is 'fear factor', which is probably the single lowest form of 'entertainment' on earth: watch people carry pig uteruses in their mouth and see how many they can move from the conveyor belt to the bucket in X seconds. watch people eating goat eyes. watch people eating bugs. really, genuinely disgusting.

Sorry, I really enjoy Family Plots. Tivo started recording it for me some time

ago, I wouldn't have looked for it myself, but I think it is a quality production,

and I keep watching it. I had read critic's columns in the paper that said it

was good and I thought initially EEEW but it is surprisingly good IMHO!!

Tivo records what it thinks you should watch? Argh. Down with Tivo. :wah:

I haven't watched the show...or many others but if it's slightly warped I'd probably like it. Somebody works in a morgue. I want to know WHY.

no no no. it's not recording what it thinks you *should* watch, it's recording things it thinks you *might like* to watch. it keeps a relational database in its little tivo brain and takes note of things like 'seems to like to watch movies starring brian dennehy, and so if there's free space for it, it'll start recording movies starring brian dennehy.

it's pretty cool. tivo is great. one of the best user interfaces ever devised. we have two (yes two) other DVR recording devices in the house, with their own interfaces, and neither holds a candle to tivo in terms of ease of use - intuitive ease.

Still scary. What if I change my habits? Now I have a whole device to retrain! :wah:

ask it to. I believe I heard Oprah saying one time she didn't want her

Tivo recording anything for her.

Now I feel better. Tivo probably recorded the Oprah show for you that tells you how to turn it off. If it's smart it is certainly not smart enough for world domination.

I have almost kicked all reality TV habits. I was hooked like a brainless monkey for a while.

Even when that commerical came on...hehehe...where the married people get put into a house that is too small...it is a joke...and they say they will spend ONE YEAR IN A HOUSE TOO SMALL...WILL THIER LOVE SURVIVE??? (really dramatic) I actually though...wow...that could be interesting. It was a commerical for something totally unrelated. I knew then...that I had a problem.
