Outbreak of HN51 Bird Flu in Pinky's Hometown!

Post by Galbally »

Yep, a facility in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England has reported a serious outbreak of the bird flu virus that has killed about 150 poultry workers in Asia, 2,500 bird have been infected, and the entire population of about 200,000 now have to be culled, the risk to humans in the area is negligible health officials are saying, so no need to panic. Officials are kinda a bit confused because its not the migratory season, and they are finding it difficult to explain about how the outbreak occurred at this time.

yes it seems pretty serious alright, but I wouldn't say there is any local threat to anyone there, its only people in direct contact with the birds that ever develop the disease (well so far). Interesting alright, I'm sure pinky must know this place pretty well, its very close to where she lives I think.

Jeez, you can't leave Suffolk for more than a day, and this happens, good lord. :wah:

I am sure they will be alright, its all contained and all that, and they have bio-security measures in place, its the Bernard Matthews turkey factory, which you must know well, OK, gotta go, talk to you all later.

Hearing about this just makes me sick! The loss of all those birds and the danger to the staff is terrible. How many people work there, Pinks?

Yup. Bernard Matthews says "I promise you I would not let a single turkey leave

my farms if I thought there was the slightest danger to the public.". I assume

he includes carcasses from elsewhere in the world arriving at "his farms", also

that he'd actually *eat* the wretched birds.

OK, call me naive.

Again, how do I do those dotty things above the characters?
