Who do you follow around?

Post by BabyRider »

On FG, I watch for people I appreciate and like to post something. Whether or not I am interested in the thread itself, I check what they have to say. Different reasons for that, sometimes it's because they make me laugh, sometimes it's because I know I will learn something, sometimes it's because it will get my blood pressure up.

Like CherandBuster, I always check out her stuff because I know I will smile.

Spot, I check out his stuff because, with the help of a dictionary, I know I'll learn something.

Flopstock, I follow her because I know it will make me laugh or it will be very wise.

So, do you follow anyone's posts?

And the first snotty or snide or tattling post in here will induce my request that the thread be deleted.

I follow Nomad around, he makes me laugh.

I look for Floppy and Theia and Betty and Pinky and Hammy and Cher and Marie and just loads of FG-ers! Something good will always show up.

When you pop up BR, I think we all smile with happiness.

Uncle, he is so funny. And the wiseguy too!

Hmm who do I follow around? My first thought was... Tamsen. Then I

read your post!! :o

I don't follow anyone around, really... there are posters I enjoy a lot

but I usually just go through threads. Some posts I linger on more

than others... ;) but if I'm just going through "today's posts" I might

click if I see a "favorite user" (another ;) ) has posted the last post.

Usally I just do first unread froggie and go from there.

I read everybody, it's the thread itself that I would avoid. Sports for example. I have no interest in that so I won't read it even if one of my favorite members is in there. :)

I go to 'Todays Posts' and go down the list until I find something that catches my eye. If I spot somone that I know will 'talk to me' then I'll probably home in on that post or thread.

I'm drawn to threads that sound interesting, although I tend to have a quick look if it doesn't sound interesting just in case the title is misleading. Other than that, I do follow people that will amuse me and engage in some light-hearted banter, which pretty much is all the regular crowd. If I can spot the potential for the above in a newbie, they're in too.

Even if I do not always reply, I find myself looking at threads started by you , BR, and Valerie most often. I like reading spots responses, because they seem thought out.

For fun I like Cher, chonsi, Pinky, Flopstock and most everyone else.

Pinky obviously! :wah: It must be the tatoo!

But also, I find that you tune into different people at different times for different things on any given day. In the political threads, Scrat usually comes up with something interesting, or accountable, or OM, or Diuretic, or on science Lulu, Fibonacci, hammy, spot, sports K synder, dubs, jimbo, etc, having fun hammy, theia, WW, cher&B (my spiritual adviser!, so calming), abbey, jimbo, Suzy, all the brits because they get me, the controversial ones, koan, babyrider, flopstock, snooze, spot, nomad Clancy, all very able and opinionated and often diametrically opposed, it can get too much, but its part of what happens here as well.

Then listening to people talking about their personal stories it could be anyone really because everyone has a story you can get interested in. Sometimes I would get interested in someone because I disagree with them so much, like that newbie scaminfo, we had a right argument about september 11th, and of course the girls all have to be watched carefully! :wah:

I also think (not to labour a point) that hearing about some the very difficult issues and tragedies that people have faced here and how they have spoken about it, is something that gives you a sense that this place is not all as bad as sometimes people think. I have gained a lot of respect for people here watching them struggle with personal difficulties, with BR's accident being just one of the latest events where someone has shown real guts in a tough situation, there are some inspiring stories here. There are some bad times, and nasty things said, definatly, but its part of life, it would be unrealistic to not expect that, its how you react that is important in my opinion.

Then there is chonisgirl, she can play Chopin, we don't post a lot on the same threads, but I understand where she is coming from with the interests she has definetly, there are lots of other people as well, maybe people I don't talk to as much, or who prefer to stay less in the big popular threads, but I be listening lads. I find the journals really interesting as well sometimes. I guess I am just a people watcher, (when i am not just flirting, spouting on about some political thing, ranting about the environment, playing the trivia quiz, discussing ancient battles, etc etc, seriously its all good, there is something here for everyone IMO).

I think Bach is the main man really, he kinda invented it in the way we now think of classical music (IMO) really, but of course Mozart, Beethoven, and people like that are in the same league (i.e. all time universal genuis), Mozart's Mass is amazing. I do love Chopin most of all though, just, well, you know what I mean.

I will check that out, I probably do know it, but because I don't play Classical I am not always completely au fait with the repertoire and matching the pieces to the composers (especially the less well known ones) that you know as a professional.

You would know it when you hear it, they play it alot.

Chopin, he has always been my favorite since I was a young teenager. I like his Mazurkas. :) But I have them all and play whatever suits my fancy at the time. If it wasn't so late, it would be Mozart Sonatas for awhile. But I do pity my neighbors and won't do that. :wah:

Mozart's Mass, I listen to it many times and find it so beautiful. I love the "Rex" and would one day like to play in an orchestra that performs it, just because I love it so. But it is not played much here. And my violin playing gets rusty in bewteen not playing for a certain occassion, so I don't think they would have me!

But I got to play the piano tonight, so it was a good night for me. :)

I know I've been followed

and I don't listen to classical music.
